In March 2013, I was given an estimate. Once I agreed to the price, I signed a contract and told them I would call them when my lawn was ready to be cut. In April, I called and they called back with a lawn date. If you're home pay them, if not leave your check at the door and they' ll be satisfied. That's pretty much it, what I like best is that they're easy to work with.
