The Home ER

Larry Layman at the HomeER is a BIG personality and can be intimidating upon first meeting him, but we really liked him. His team was extremely professional, prompt, and detail oriented. The crew was in our home for four days from sun up to sun down. They were very hard workers and did not intrude in the day to day workings of our household, considering we were without our ktichen for a few days. Larry and the guys are perfectionists! We were glad about that because we knew that they were not cutting corners on anything. Larry came back two separate times after the job was completed to get a last walk through, and he noticed a ceiling grate and phone jack that didn't match...so he replaced it for FREE! He did the work himself on the rewiring the phone jack. He's such a nice guy, and we were nothing but pleased with his work. I also wanted to share a story of how we even came to meet Larry. About three years ago, our dear friends' daughter had a near drowning accident which turned their world upside down. Their family basically lived at the hospital for about 6 months because their daughter incurred considerable brain injury. After leaving the hospital, they decided to buy a house because their apartment was too small and could not accomodate all of their little girl's needs. A friend of their's had used Larry as her contractor for over 20 years. She suggested that they talk to him about a few upgrades they were wanting to make on the house. He offered to let them use all of his equipment at no charge, if they wanted to do the work themselves. A few days in to all of the repairs, Larry dropped by to check on things and decided that his crew would do a much better job because of their expertise. The HomeER crew came to their new house and completely overhauled the entire interior of the house AT NO COST! The homeowner had purchased much of the supplies already, so Larry provided his crew for nearly two weeks. And, he didn't charge them a dime. We were so impressed and moved by his generosity, that we vowed at that moment to use him for all of our home repairs, upgrades, and remodeling. We tell all of our friends in the area about his work, and we hope that this Angie's list posting will spread the word even more. He prefers to work locally in Coppell.

Larry provided a complete, detailed quote in June. When we finally pulled the trigger, and agreed on the work to be done, he put us on his calendar for August 2012. Tearout of the old bathroom was completed within two days with everything removed. All of The Home ER people were well orchestrated, and all showed up in the right order exactly as scheduled. Larry has a team of experts who are very good at their particular job: drywall, paint, texture, cabinet-maker, glass guy....on and on. They're all very nice, easy to work with, and punctual. They're very tidy; they clean up as they go. They protect your stairs, carpet, and belongings from the messiness of remodeling as much as possible. They also offer design assistance! We weren't quite sure what tile design we wanted for shower, so Larry's Team offered suggested, and even brought in a variety of samples to view to help us with the design decision. The project took a full month as planned. It was a big job, but now we have the beautiful master bathroom we wanted as well as an updated half-bath downstairs. Everything in the master bathroom is new with tile, granite, marble, custom cabinetry, new mirrors, fixtures, full-veiw glass shower----it's stunning. Follow-up after the project is complete is superior. For instance, a grout line developed a hairline crack after it dried. They came out quickly, and the repair was completed beautifully. They're not happy unless the customer is happy. I highly recommend Larry Layman and The Home ER for any of your home or business remodeling needs.
