Jason worked quickly and got both toilets installed and working in less than the time estimated; he was very professional throughout the entire job (and the week before when he came out to give me the initial quote). He cleaned up after himself, gave me the detailed invoice with phone numbers for authorized flooring installers in case we wanted to redo the tile (the builder had installed linoleum *after* the toilet was put in, so the new toilets didn't completely cover the hole left by the old ones), but he did a very good job of patching, so we may not need to.
This was our second experience with Holden Plumbing, and I continue to be very impressed with them; from the front office scheduler to the plumbing specialist, they are a class-A operation, and we're going to keep going back to them!
We have used Holden Plumbing on several occasions and they have always exceeded our expectations.
They did an excellent job, communicated everything along the way, worked with us on concerns we had. Proper permit and inspection was done and the city inspector even commented it was an excellent job.
All was great. Highly recommend. We have used Holden for the last 3 major plumbing issues we have had and been satisfied each time.
They were prompt, called at 7:45 am and they were here before 9 am. Jason H. was great. Very professional. Came in and assessed the problem, gave a quote, we discussed and he went over everything thoroughly that he was going to do and the proposal was signed and work began.
He worked very hard and I had a nice hot shower at the end of the day.
To go a step further, on the 5th, we then had another plumbing issue that was un-related (backed up sewer due to roots). I called early, as I had a plane to catch and was very stressed about missing the flight and leaving the problem unattended. I called and Becky, who is awesome, said she would send someone right over.
A different Jason arrived promptly, un-stopped the sewer line and I made my plane without any problems.
These guys rock! and they also have online coupons - $100 off the water heater and $50 off the other issue.
Both the plumber and his apprentice were helpful, punctual and patient with my many questions. Our water heater is VERY difficult to access (old house, garage conversion). They were thorough and did not leave a mess on the floors.
Basically, they were punctual. One plumber did good, quick, efficient work. The price was reasonable. But the loud guy who was ready to tear up my slap for thousands of dollars without every doing two minues of work to diagnose the problem left me with a sour taste. If he had just said, and quot;Well, that could be something very serious. We need to see if we can open it up and if not we may need to put a camera down there and see if there's a bigger problem, and quot; I would have been fine. Although they seem to know how to do plumbing, Mr. Disaster made me think I probably won't call them again.
"We appreciate your feedback about our technician's demeanor when he was at your home. All I can do is say I'm sorry that you didn't have a great experience with us. I do wish that you had called us back when the work was done. We really do care about our customers and want to make sure you are treated with respect and feel that we did a great job for you at a great price. Since this work was actually done on 3/15/11, there isn't much I can do about it now, a year later. Call us again and I'll make sure we take better care of you!"

It was an emergency after 5pm ,so we had no choice but to call out the first available service company that could send someone. So the upside of the whole story is that they came within an hour of the call, and the technician was pleasant. He arrived around 6.30 and left just after 8pm, unable to complete the job as the ground needed to be excavated in order to align the pipes, etc. So we were fully aware of the $159 after hours callout, and he said it would be around $500 for that night's work.
The next day he arrived around 10am with another technician and they completed the job by 3.30pm. So under 2 hours overtime last night cost $380 ($190 per hour), and then labor costs for today for 5.5hrs work was $1170, therfore, 11 man hours brings it to $106/hr . The total bill was $1800 less the $100 coupon. Of that $1700, only $75 was parts. I'm still completely stunned at the cost. However, since we know nothing about plumbing and cannot survive without water, we had no choice but to have the work done by the first person who could come out. Maybe $100+ per hour is standard labor charge for plumbing...(and almost double after hours) i didn't know before but I will surely never forget !
Can't comment on the quality of the work since it's all underground and we're clueless.
