My wife and I debated whether to write a review as in the beginning we felt we had really bonded with Amanda, the owner. However. as you will see by what happened, we felt we needed to so others don't experience what we did. My wife's mother passed away in December, and she and I were responsible for taking care of all our her possessions - extremely emotional and tough time. At the same time, we decided to put our house on the market by June 1. When we first met Amanda in mid-March (she approached us as we were selling a picture via Craigslist) and she offered us a higher value for the picture if we were interested in having some garden/landscaping work done). As we had all those other things going on it seemed to be a good idea and we asked her to put together a cost-effective plan to get the garden/yard in shape by June 1. At first we thought her plan was OK although much more than what we wanted to pay but we trusted her to do a good job.
When the plants/grass first went in, we thought OK, she helped us out/can't wait to see how it turns out. At the time, we were so distracted with my mother-in-law's estate, that we didn't notice right away that the mondo grasses she planted in the back were completely the wrong size. Next, as the weeks went by, we noticed that the daisy in the front bed which was suppose to be miniature was actually full size. And we also noticed that the canna that was suppose to include yellow was completely red clashing with the knock out roses in the bed.
We thought - ok, we bonded with Amanda - she'll work with us to make sure the job she did was right.
No response. She stopped by for 5 minutes and said everything looked great - just some clean up to do after 6-7 weeks and all would be good -- all she needed to do was make sure her team planted the mondo grass deeper. She actually promised me a proposal for that evening and that she would see if here team could do it the next day or the following Monday. No proposal, nobody stopped by.
After 6 weeks, when we had dead spots on the new grass she and her team had planted and 8 plants (including the very hardy lantana, fringe flower and blackfoot daisy) struggling to survive in the yard, we reached out for help from Amanda. She said she was way too booked and busy, but promised another proposal for that evening ? again, it never showed up.
So, because of our June 1 deadline that we had talked about so many times with Amanda, my wife and I started working in the garden and found one of the key culprits to the problem to the dying plants was that Amanda and her team had planted them directly from their pots without any working of the root balls -- which even a novice knows is the kiss of death in Dallas' clay soil. Even when we told Amanda this fact, she failed to respond or help us. What did we pay so much money for?
We never asked for our money back - only tried to connect with Amanda to help us get the grass and garden in shape - we even told her that if she would give us the chance to drop off the dead plants/grass sods, we'd replace them. We'd also add any solution to the grass and plants that she recommended to try to save them. No response.
In the end, my wife and I spent more than 20 hours over several days and more than $500 trying to correct Amanda and her team's mistakes. We had to add more mulch in many instances -- never had to do that 6 weeks after we've paid people to apply mulch -- and we replaced dying plants, added fertilizer and also some intensive treatments to those plants that we tried to save.
Some plants that they planted seem to be doing OK - haven't yet dug them up causing these poor plants any more stress. We hope they will survive and were planted correctly.

I paid $5758.47 for an entire years worth of landscaping services. Cancelled the contract after 3 months because of very poor workmanship. Contract stated early termination would result in recalculation of services provided against payments. Recalculation of services provided for three months were charged at a completely different rate than the value of the services originally agreed upon; they were totally out of proportion. I was charged 68% of the value of the yearly services instead of 30% of the time frame. Going Green used mulching mowers which left long grass clippings on my lawn and the edging was very poor. I asked for the problems I was encountering be resolved; they never were. I had a party at my house one weekend and walked out into my back yard and it smelled like a feed lot. Yes, I was aware the fertilization would be "green"; however, Amanda advised me I would be notified prior to fertilization in case I wanted to delay the process; was not notified but was horribly embarrassed. I had 2 large Yew plants planted in my flower beds, $375.00 each. The plants were removed from their containers and then reinserted into the containers because the gardener cut my phone line; it was obvious where the line was. Dirt was not covering the roots of the plants when they were reinserted into the containers; I watered the plants daily but after sitting out a week, one of the plants died and one was in very poor condition. The dead plant was replaced before planting but the sick plant was planted and died a month after it was planted. I was told the plants had a year's guarantee; replacement or money was not refunded. My attorney tried to correspond with Going Green regarding the issues and the original monies paid. A letter was sent to Amanda stating I be paid an amount, 1/2 of what I originally paid, which was generous on my part since I had only received three months of service or documentation which established the projected costs for the remainder of the contract. Going Green did not comply with either request and did not bother to correspond at all, professionalism exhibited? My attorney advised me to take my case to litigation and also conveyed I would more than likely recover the monies owed to me by Going Green. At that point, I had spent too much time dealing with Going Green and decided if Going Green continued their business practices as they had me, their business would not thrive. Sometimes you have to take the "high road" and understand your own time is much too valuable to spend with Companies such as Going Green.
Response from Going Green Landscapes
"Client paid for one year of maintenance, but canceled early. Originally received 10% discount for year service, but when service was terminated that discount is no longer valid. More work is done in the Spring that at any other time over the contract, keeping crews onsite over double the length of time compared to late in the year. The client canceled without warning, did not pay for $1444.18 worth of landscaping just completed, and she applied it to her refund. Phone line was in a bedding area where there were currently other plants, and not in turf area as normal. We fixed the phone line at our expense. Edging was crooked because sidewalk had irregular edges, and we explained that we would spend more time to do this in future, not following the edge but having to create a free edge. I explained that Enhanced Compost Tea has a stronger odor and that we would let them know when we would use that, but first two treatments were with the exact same product as previous company as too early for compost tea product. Also, never had this communicated to me until reading this post. So, product that she claims caused the odor was not even used at that point, and was the same product as previous company. We were never notified that a Yew had died, as this was when they terminated our services and they decided instead to contact an attorney. We did respond with a full accounting of services rendered and their associated costs, and also issued a refund to client's credit card within the 30 days they requested. Tried hard to work with this client. Unwrapped their palms that had suffered freeze damage over the previous winter and client's husband had turned off irrigation to them. They needed airing and water, but in mid March when we were expecting another unusually late winter occurrence, she called to ask "who the idiot was" who unwrapped the palms, so we rushed out and rewrapped her palms. If she had a concern, we addressed it, even if it required sending crews back out again. In summary, client added up how many weeks work was completed and assigned a dollar amount to that. We have to account for the additional time spent on site during the spring months, and the extra labor time we spent unwrapping/wrapping/unwrapping palms, pruning, cleaning, clearing leaves, etc. that were averaged into a year long contract. We did communicate, just not what client wanted to hear. She did not pay for almost $1500 worth of landscaping done right before cancellation as she kept that and applied it to her credit. We did contact her attorney and sent this full accounting of time on site, removed the 10% discount for full-year's services, and refunded her credit card. We are a small company, and pride ourselves on our service. This is the only complaint we have ever had. We did what was right and refunded the client, DID communicate with them. The buried telephone line that was cut, ran under existing plants. Client asked us to plant the new plants there, it was her direction. Every effort is made to avoid situations such as this, but it occasionally happens. We repaired the cut at our expense. No solution would have been acceptable to this client, as she wouldn't take into consideration the amount of time early in the contract we had to spend on site during the busiest time of the contract, she just counted the number of weeks, not the number of hours spent there. A contract is averaged out over a year for a reason. The discount was originally given for the full year's contract and payment. Once that was canceled, you can't say you want the savings too. We wish the Members well, had enjoyed working with them, and were disappointed this ended on a sour note."

$15,000
The owner of the company actually lives in my neighborhood and we noticed for a long time her truck was always parked outside. Her name is Amanda. We spent about 15000 to 16000. We liked everything. What worked for us is that she lives in our neighborhood and so she was easy to get in touch with anytime that we needed her and what was nice is if we needed to go over things or talk about anything she would always come over after 6.00 which is when we both get home from work, pick up our son from day care and we get into the house. She would come after that which is really nice and she is very accessible. We can e-mail her and get a response very quickly and there wasn't any wait time and she's a very nice person. Amanda is very creative and she will work with your budget and what you are looking for and give you her honest opinion. Our patio is just beautiful. She's done a beautiful work. This wouldn't go for anybody else one must have to live in our neighborhood, but one needs to get all this ? okay through their home owners. We hadn't realized that even before we had agreed because we talked to some other landscaping company (We talked to 3 and we were kind of close to deciding) we kind of figured it would be her in our last conversation even before we decided on her, she had gone ahead and filed with our home owner's association for us and with our city that we live in because she said if they approve it no matter who we go with it's good for us even if we need more time to decide. So she took care of that for us even before we were there with anybody so we even appreciated that. At lest the city card for anyone using her, she would take care of that for the city permit. As far as the home owner's association, she's done a bunch of lawns in our neighborhood so she's in touch with them and they know that she's going to do a fine job. We would use her again in the future.
