Gaps in flooring. Owner refused to fix.

The problem appears to be the fact that we opted to install our own baseboards and when began work on the baseboards it was apparent that they cut corners. Lousy cuts near the wall were causing problems and when I addressed the issue I was told it was because I didn't let the company install the baseboard. That baseboards can be shimmed and gaps can be "caulked." One of the cuts in the corner of my son's room was so bad it had a gap near the door frame and I was told to caulk it......NO.....that is not the answer. I even paid the company a little extra, but when he was finished and I was left with NO extra material in order to replace boards that were not cut right. The sad thing is we had a great relationship going until the end when I asked the owner to "make it right"...he had various excuses for why it wasn't "wrong" and then got flaming mad within seconds of coming in my home. It was as it he was embarrassed of getting called out on his lousy work. He obviously didn't have time to fix it and never intended on fixing the problems. He just said he didn't need to be threatened by me and drove off leaving me with material to fix it myself. At least I have the material, because honestly I think I could have done a better job. He will repeatedly let you know that he has "16 years" experience, but I'll warn you.....the actual guys that install the floor probably only have a couple years of experience as they are young kids just trying to get by. It's sad because he could have taken 15 -20 minutes of his day to fix the problems and I would be on here recommending the company instead of warning people to stay away. Prayers to business owners who can't stay calm in situations like these. I was upset, I was frustrated, but I definitely didn't want it thrown back in my face as if it was my fault because I didn't let him finish out the baseboards in order to cover up bad work.
