My experience was fine. It didn't take long, and hour or less. Seem like a nice guy, positive. I felt safe, I'm a big man, but you know.

Great! Donald, the service technician that came out to repair the springs for my garage door was Wonderful! He knew what he was doing and completed the job in a very timely manner. He answered all my questions I had during the repair process. He was professional, polite and respectful. Many thanks to O'Brien Garage Doors for your prompt and courteous service! This includes Victor too, he made the job possible when taking my call for the requested service. Same day service was provided.

The service was performed only to the extent that they came out for initial inspection. They demanded full payment upfront in cash (check) and fully agreed to be here this morning by 9:00am at latest for installation of two new garage doors. They didn't bother to call to say that they were running late. Finally at 9:30 my husband called to find out what was going on. They were still at suppliers. "Not our fault" was their only response. They then promised to be at our home ""absolutely no later than 10:30". We cancelled at 10:50 -- with no further attempted contact from them. Yes, in the interim of their tardiness I checked YELP and Angie's. Not willing to further risk a shoddy and overpriced ($2400) job when it's starting off with such lack of integrity. So, here's to another F cut short.

Horrible - do not use them. They sent someone over for estimate and he wanted cash only for a deposit towards the work we were scheduling. They did not show up on the day it was scheduled. They called several times and kept pushing the "window" back a couple hours at a time until they eventually cancelled for the day and then rescheduled. The technician (same guy as the estimator) left materials on the floor in the garage, included one of his tools. The door does not match the style of the other door we have. And 3 weeks later, the new spring broke and they sent the same guy again. At least I was able to point out the tool he left the last time. He tried to charge me for replacing the broken spring - "I will give you a good deal on this one". I blew a gasket and he then said he didn't realize it was the same spring he had just replaced and agreed I shouldn't have to pay for it again. I would not recommend these clowns to my worst enemy.

I called the company as soon as possible, after we were unable to open or close our garage door.  The person taking calls was very responsive and assured me that someone would be out by 6:00 p.m.  When the repairman found himself caught in terrible traffic, the dispatcher called us and kept us posted about the repairman's expected time of arrival.  He managed to get from Magnolia, which is about an hour north of Houston, to our house, which is in West University, by 7:00 p.m.  He immediately assessed what needed to be done and gave us an estimate for parts and service.  He had replacement parts on his truck, so the work progressed very quickly.  He noticed that -- in addition to the broken spring -- one of the cable holders on the side of the door was warped.  He updated the service cost, retrieved the part from his truck, and completed the repairs.  From the time he arrived, until the time he completed the work, was around one hour.  Our garage door is now fully operative.

I was not happy with what they did. They had to come out 3 different times and then they charged me extra for something they should have caught the first time. It was ridiculous that they wouldn't come out, they wanted to charge me extra because I'm a comeback customer because I came out on Sunday. They told me it was my fault that it's broken and they wouldn't do it so they had to come out another day. They charged me for something they should have caught the first time. I paid $500 and turned around and spent a $100 or something and I was not happy with it. He took 20% off the call -- whoopee. The first one was much better, and the second one wasn't. They should have returned my call, made an effort for a return visit even if it was a Sunday, and not charging for time and a half, check everything before they leave the first time. They quoted me $500-something so I thought that would have been fixed, then paying another $120 for something that was still having to do with the door going up and dwon. It did the exact same thing so it was something they didn't fix the first time that they should have caught. He said it was in the machine. I don't know where it was because I wasn't here. They don't leave good notes about what was done. I wasn't that impressed with them. I used the coupon and I still didn't feel like I got the coupon's worth. I didn't have much interaction with them. We talked about it the first time and he showed me what he was doing. 2 1/2 months later, they did the exact same thing. It should have been under warranty. They said it was a different part. I don't know that because I don't know garage doors and I wasn't here, and the fact that he wouldn't call back and give me any explanation. It was also the top guy in this store that was out here doing the second one. I wanted to talk to the guy in charge and he was the one who did it, they wouldn't call me back.

My garage door has been very noisy lately and it has been about 5 years since I had my last "tuneup."  I scheduled a tuneup appointment with O'Brien by phone, which was handled very professionally.
On the morning of the appointment, O'Brien called and said that the technician had been dispatched and was on the way.  He arrived within 20 minutes.  The technician, Jim Donohue, did an assessment of my garage door system and gave me his opinion on what he thought I needed.  I never felt any pressure or detected any tactic that he was trying to sell me something.  I originally just wanted a garage door tuneup, but learned that my springs were at the end of their life (about 20 years old) and badly rusted, and also that the current rollers were made of metal and the bearings were worn out.  Jim recommended nylon rollers which are quieter if I wanted to get them replaced.  Since I had the funds available, I decided it was time to go ahead with the major overhaul rather than taking a chance trying to squeeze a few more months of life out of the old parts and then having to handle everything on an emergency basis.  I told Jim to go ahead and replace the springs and rollers.
I also asked Jim his opinion about my garage door opener.  He said as long as it's working there's really no need to replace it, but he gave me prices for a replacement model, either chain-driven or belt-driven (about $100 higher).  My current door opener is a screw-type, which his company does not install.  I decided to keep my current opener until it dies since it's still doing its job.
Two hours later, Jim drives away and my garage door is much quieter.  I am happy with the work and I feel much better having done it.  I thought the price was fair for the work performed.  Since I'm a retired person, all these new parts will likely outlast me.  I am pleased with the overall experience and I recommend O'Brien Garage Doors to others.
