David from J-Star Services is Amazing!!! He arrived promptly and diagnosed all three problems immediately. He had them all repaired within the hour. He’s one of the fastest and most confident plumbers I’ve ever ever seen. Highly recommend.

Where do I start...It took a week for a part to come in to fix my faucet. I had to call for updates on the part all week. I just called J Star and was told that my part would arrive today and I would be scheduled on Monday. I requested a late appointment since I waited all week for them to call and did not plan to do the same for an additional week. This is when her meds must have stopped working because she became unprofessional, snappy, rude, and began to cause much rigamarole. I was about to match her energy and gave her a warning, but instead I asked for the manager. The lady informed me that she is the manager, which explained why everything was such a mess. I disconnected the call and called my warranty company for a proper resolve. Listen to your gut as you read the other reviews and go with another company. Trust me.

These folks were contracted through Sears to install a water heater we bought for our son and family as a gift. We paid Sears $450.00 for the install but when this bunch arrived they had to have another $120.00 for a valve and flex line. When I talked to them later they said it was required but couldn't tell me who or what regulation required it. So basically I paid $450.00 for them to carry the water heater into the house. After reading their Google reviews it seems this is a habit they have developed. I would never use them and have told Sears they should be removed as a installer.

The three man crew from J-Star Services, inc (main office in Montgomery, Texas. phone: 936-447-1603) changed out my hot water heater in Richmond, Texas on August 22, 2014. They arrived on time and were professional in appearance and manner. Their equipment (truck,etc.) was modern and well kept. They removed my old hot water heater and replaced it with a new one I bought from Sears. They did not make a mess of any kind; Things went smoothly and I am pleased with the results. More importantly, my wife is pleased that no mess was made in the house. The new heater works great. I recommend J-Star Services.

Plumber called before arriving and wanted to know what size fitting we needed.  He was aggravated that I didn't know and said he didn't want to make a trip out for nothing to see what size pipe we had.  He came on out, inspected the faucet, and chastized me for not letting the scheduler know what size fitting we needed.  The plumber proceded to work on the faucet and spat repeatedly on my concrete patio.  I was very uncomfortable because he looked like he was losing his temper, so went inside my house to wait.  Something went wrong and all of a sudden I was advised that the price quoted for the work was not valid because he had to "go inside the wall", so that was a more expensive price. 
When my husband, arrived the plumber was very condescending to him and sent my husband to Lowe's to get an additional part. When my husband returned, it was announced that the part was not needed.  The plumber behaved like an uncouth jerk.  We paid cash and got a receipt, but it was not dated and half-filled out.
I will never let these clowns on my property again.

The subcontractors that came out were really nice and got right to work. I was notified that it would cost an additional $547 to do the install on top of the $350 or so I already paid Sears for the install. Being that these guys are licensed plumbers I understand that they have a charge per hour and other costs to adhere to. However, the money paid to Sears should've covered it and I would've been more than understanding had it only been $100-$200 more. But it is what it is. The guys did a good job from what I can tell. I will be talking to Sears to see if these charges are accurate. From what I can tell the technicians are getting a small percentage to do the install from the company they work for, they then up charge so that they can make their money. Gotta say that I expected more transparency from Sears. I've never had an issue with any Sears guys before, hopefully this was just a one time thing.

Sears Water Heater Installation on 01/18/2011 Water Heater was bought from Sears, J-Star is a Sears appointed contractor. Installation fee plus attic surcharge was paid to Sears. I was aware of potential additional expenses depending on what needed to be replaced or added in the way of water and gas connections and valves. However, what these people presented to me as an "installation surcharge" for these items was nothing short of outright gouging and extortion. They were going to buy some additional parts at Home Depot, so I suggested I would go with them and pay for the parts. they needed. They claimed I could not do that and Sears would not allow them to do that, parts would have to be paid at their exorbitant price which they claimed to be a Sears price list. Note: I paid $615.00 for the Heater, which was a fair price, plus 229.00 for delivery and installation, plus 129.00 attic installation surcharge, 10.00 for removal of old unit. The extra charges they claimed for approx. 18 feet of plastic piping, water and gas flex connections, some fittings and a drip pan, a "permit fee and a vent configuration charge" amounted to an additional 728.90 that is a total of 1,088.00 for installation of a water heater !!! . Note: I neither received an application form nor any information who would issue a permit or do an inspection, nor anything else with regard to this permit charge, and nothing was changed on the vent, the existing exhaust pipe adaptor was just slipped over the new water heater. Upon my suggestion to cancel the entire project they proceeded to call a Sears Service line and after a short discussion reduced the additional surcharge (over and above what I had already paid Sears) from 728.90 to 488.36, pretending that Sears would pay the difference of 240.54. The total installation charge of 848.00 was still exorbitant, the permit and vent surcharge in my opinion a hoax, and the integrity and conduct of the installer more than questionable. Because I expected friends of mine to stay with me for a couple of days that same night I was in a bind to have the heater installed, otherwise I would have preferred to cancel the installation and look for a more honest contractor. Since I tend to be nice with people I made the regrettable mistake to sign their papers with a satisfactory evaluation of their job performance which I herewith refute. Upon consultation with the Sears sales person at the store I was told that my complaint about J-Star Services, Inc. was not the first one they received. I believe it is high time for Sears to delete J-Star Services, Inc. from their contractor list, otherwise Sears is failing their responsibility as a trustworthy supplier. Paul K.
