We had gone through several attempts to have our AC unit repaired. The first technician told us that the unit had been struck by lightning and that we would need to replace the entire HVAC system at a cost of $12,000. Since the system was relatively new, we called in a second technician who told us that the only problem was the thermostat that the first technician had broken in his attempt to repair the AC system. This was also an inaccurate assessment.

Add to that having to deal with incompetence bordering on fraudulent behavior, and the situation. becomes grim quickly.
