I have thought long and hard about reviewing this company. The experience could not have been worse but the president tried so hard to make good on everything. Yet people need to know so here is an abbreviated version. I heard all the Texas roofing horror stories and tried hard to find a good solid “local” company. I checked Angie’s list, talked to neighbors, read reviews and had conversations with estimators and adjusters. I chose Select because their estimator did a thorough job. The actual installation and aftermath however represented one of the worst contractor experiences imaginable. From the day the crew first showed up we suffered a 9 day installation nightmare followed by weeks nibbling at poor workmanship issues requiring the hire of an independent roofing inspector.Ultimately they got most items fixed and the rest I just gave up on concluding their view of a quality job was never going to mesh with mine. On beautiful sunlit days no one showed up, then they worked in the rain resulting in many workmanship issues. In Texas labor is underpaid and under motivated so delivering a quality result boils down to communication between crew chief and management. Where it all breaks down and what no one tells you is that the company / crew chief relationship is often not one of employer/ employee it’s more independent contractor making decisions behind the scenes about priorities; what job to show up for and not really overseeing the work or communicating with the client. The details of our horror story are not necessary, suffice to ask if the crew are employees and set your expectations.

We contacted them after they were recommended by a former customer. They came out and got up on the roof, taking pictures of the damage. They came back when the insurance adjuster came out and went up on the roof again with him to make sure all the damage was seen. Once the insurance estimate was in, they came to the house and discussed options and shingle types. Once we made our choices, they scheduled the replacement. It was a few weeks off as there were multiple hail storms during that time period. They were prompt, finished the roof in 1 day and cleaned up after themselves. They ran a magnet over the lawn to pick up any nails. Other than a good looking roof, you could not tell they had been there.
It is hard to gauge price. We had others that offered us money back on the insurance estimate but insurance is not about making money, the estimate was a fair price for replacement and Select Roofing accepted it.
I would recommend them without hesitation.

They responded to our call promptly and were extremely professional and any outside contractors that needed to come and do work were also prompt and professional.

I would sum up the overall experience, by saying that, when I need my roof replaced, I know who I will be calling. I would recommend them to anyone that needs roof repair or replacement.

We hired them again immediately as they did such a great job. Our salesman, Sean Garcia, was excellent and I would recommend him highly. Their crew did everything we requested and cleaned up following the work. The gutters were very high quality. Hopefully we won't need a THIRD roof, but if we do we would hire them again.

The crew, which were employed by the roofing company, showed up mid day. Worked all that day until dark. Came back early the next morning and by the end of the day were finished. Workmanship was excellent, all portions of job were finished as agreed. Clean up was complete. Prior to starting they covered the swimming pool and were careful about shrubs and trees.  Sometimes the sales staff was hard to get hold of and they still have not come buy to pick up the final payment. Its been several weeks, guess they will come get it when they want it.

We had a great experience with Select Roofing. We had been putting off getting our roof fixed since last year's hail storms. They came in and gave us a good estimate and started the work about a week later. They repaired our fence (gate has never worked so well!) as well as replaced the roof. They've answered all my questions and in fact will be sending a guy out to adjust some roof venting that's come out of place. They've been very responsive to answering my questions and making sure we were fully satisfied with the work. They've even been patient as my mortgage company dragged their feet with the insurance check. I would definitely use them again!

Select Roofing severely damaged our property! and middot;

Our front gate was damaged by their workers, apparently when they kicked it open. Their crew set the broken wood pieces aside and didn't notify us, which resulted in one of our dogs getting out. They eventually replaced one of the broken boards with an eyesore that is clearly mismatched.

Our flower gardens were left with unsightly black roofing material mixed in with the granite. We can still see their roof scrapings mixed in with our gardens and it's going to be very expensive to have new decomposed granite poured over the mess. Select Roofing said they'd give us a $200 credit towards getting the beds cleaned up, which would have made our deductible $1300, but even that paltry amount was not provided.

The skylight was supposed to be replaced with an upgraded make/model, keeping in mind that there was absolutely nothing wrong with our existing skylight, and this was to be done in lieu of fixing other hail damage. The Select Roofing workers instead damaged our existing sun roof, didn't inform us of the damage, and left the job site. Select Roofing eventually replaced the skylight they damaged with the same type we had originally, and fraudulently kept the repair money in their pocket.

The workers overtly threw litter into our yard and did not pick up after themselves. Whole soda cans, chip cans, wrappers, etc. were left everywhere. I had to pick all this up myself immediately or it would have resulted in a trash citation from our homeowner association.

All of the items on our back patio were moved around and left randomly strewn about the lawn.

The workers ripped up one of the solar screens and left it that way without informing us. This was eventually replaced by a mismatched screen.

Select Roofing agreed to remove our old satellite dish and simply didn’t do it when the roof was replaced. They eventually got around to this about a month later after many contacts.

Select Roofing left nails and sharp objects everywhere, including in our neighbor’s yard. Our complaints were met with one person making several half-hearted and ineffective efforts to clean up the lawn. We were picking up sharp metal objects for months thanks to Select Roofing's carelessness.

We recently passed out some fliers in our neighborhood warning folks about this company. Select Roofing responded by unprofessionally having one of their representatives confront me by calling me names in my front lawn. After a heated conversaion about this with the owner, I did receieve a brief apology e-mail from the individual.

We do not recommend this company for any service, and if you've already signed a contract be sure to have your camera ready to thoroughly document any damage to your property.
