"I'm unsure why this customer would write such a harsh review six months after the project was completed.. At the conclusion of the project the crew spent an entire day with the customer and his wife going over each room meticulously looking for any flaws. Every item found was properly addressed at that time. I had twenty four man hours extra doing the punch list. I felt we had a good rapport and I spent extended time with Mr. [removed member name] every day of the job fielding questions and responding immediately to anything brought up. Mr. [removed member name] received exceptional customer service from myself and the crew. These guys answer to me and I have the final say on their work, I live a mile from this customer which he is aware, yet he never contacted me to resolve any complaints. I had another person her to provide a quote on some landscaping. He observed Mr. Hahn at work and invited him to bid on a commercial job he was planning.
Jim Hahn was selected to do the exterior painting on my Parent's 53 year old home after interviews with several Angies list top rated contractors.
This was a big job on a medium sized brick and wood home. The work included:
repairs and replacement of damaged wood on the ceilings of the front and back porches
extensive removal and replacement of old calk, around windows, doors, garage doors, and throughout all painted surfaces
and around batten board trim on gables
extensive sanding and scraping due to waiting too long since previous painting and accumulation over time of layers of paint
extensive resetting of nail heads, application of wood priming and wood filling products

Jim and his crew were always very respectful, friendly, and available to answere questions. They worked safely to avoid accidents and cleaned up each day. They had the equipment they need on the job each day. They worked throughout a week were the temperatures were reaching 100+ degrees with very little shade available. I had planned on being available to keep watch over the job at my Parent's, but found that it was not necessary. Jim's own standards of workmanship were higher than my own and mine are pretty high.
When it became obvious that the amount of prep work was more extensive than we all realized, Jim did not cut corners on anything to save time. We Added on a significant repair to the front porch ceiling in the middle of the job and he quickly gave us the additional time and cost so we were able to make that decision.
We have always understood that the prep work on exterior painting was the key to a well done and long lasting finished product. Jim and his crew went above and beyond what we had expected. They knew what they were doing start to finish.
We will use them again in late fall on another home that will have significant work to be done.
My original intention was to paint the exterior myself. I pressure-washed the house exterior surfaces in preparation for painting. But then other house interior work consumed my time and I decided to have a contractor paint the exterior. I had 2 x Angies List contractors come by and give me an estimate. Jim won the work hands down. His crew was able to start work the next day. They showed up exactly on time and immediately began prep work (caulking, selective wood trim replacement) while Jim color-matched and purchased the exterior Sherwin Williams paint. The caulking/paint crew was very professional, no real over-spray onto any brickwork that I could find. The doors look great too. They finished the job that same day. Very professional work done, very good quality work. I would not hesitate to use Jim Hahn again.
