Before Riley, we had and quot;Annie, and quot; a beautiful and sweet Golden Retriever. As I write this, I can't keep my eyes from tearing up. I lost part of my soul when we lost Annie. She was six when we got her and nine when we lost her. Dr. Allen was right there with us when Annie had and quot;bloatand quot; a month after we adopted her. He was the one who diagnosed her splenic hemangioma. Again, thankfully, it was not malignant, not hemangiosarcoma. Both times Annie had surgery at the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas in Southlake. My sister-in-law is a veterinarian in Chicago and noticed Annie had a suspicious-looking spot on her eye. I took Annie to Dr. Allen, who didn't seem to think it was serious, but he sent us to a canine eye specialist in Dallas. They were terrific over there; and Dr. Allen was correct. It wasn't anything serious, no malignancy. Around Thanksgiving one year, Annie decided to take a ham bone out of the trash and have her own holiday feast. I took her to Dr. Allen because she was coughing funny. I thought she might have a bone stuck in her throat. Dr. Allen took x-rays and did find bone fragments in her intestines, but also saw something more sinister. He saw she had megaesophagus. Annie finally succumed to this horrible affliction common to Goldens.
Dr. Allen is not only a fantastic doctor, he's compassionate, caring, sympathetic, and kindhearted. His whole staff is that way.
My Riley is in great hands with Dr. Allen and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my baby.
Great!
Dr. Allen and his staff seem to genuinely love animals, and they definitely have a way with them. Our other rescue dog, Buddy, a GoldenRetriever/Chow X, was and quot;difficultand quot; as a younger dog. But Dr. Allen and his staff quickly won him over. Buddy now does the happy dance whenever we pull into Boulevard's parking lot, and he can't wait to get in the door! I highly recommend Dr. Joe Allen, Veterinarian, and Boulevard Animal Hospital.
