Our dog has a congenital, degenerative neurological disorder so I wanted to establish with a local vet. The staff wasn't rude but wasn't all that friendly either. The veterinarian came in without really introducing herself but did seem to look her over real good. I told her about all her issues and mentioned that she might have a urinary tract infection. I also asked her for some general advice for which she didn't really have much of an answer. She also seemed like she was in a big hurry which bothers me a bit especially on a first visit, but I figured there wasn't much to do or say.
Well, a few weeks go by and I had an even stronger inclination that she DID have a urinary tract infection, so I took her to a different vet. Well, the difference in care was night and day. The new vet simply expressed her bladder and analyzed the urine confirming that she had an infection. Now I have her on antibiotics and she seems to be on track to getting better. The second vet also gave us some helpful advice, told us about her concerns, and taught us how to express her bladder to keep it from exploding and avoid future UTI's. Not that this first vet was awful, but I will not be going back because she did nothing to help my dog when she needed it.

Things really started downhill when I said I didn't understand and was unhappy my dog was not seen until late that evening. Once he was challenged, he became sarcastic, cold, defensive. I mentioned something I had told the vet tech and he acted disbelieving, demanding that I specify just who I told, when, what they looked like. So, if you persist in taking your pet here, take a photograph and a tape recording to prove who you talked to and what you said. I told him I'd offered to pay the extra fee to have her seen immediately, and he said, "Oh, so you were given that option?" I told him the staff had not offered it, I just knew to do that. He wanted to go around and around about that. When I have a question about the care (or lack of) rendered to my animal, it is perfectly okay for me politely ask about it and disagree with it and ask for an explanation, but his attitude immediately became an unfriendly, sarcastic "How dare you criticize me?" His office manager tried to pressure me into buying a whole case of special diet food, while my dog was still in dire condition. A whole case, even though supposedly there were three other dogs there at that time with the same diagnosis? What clinic of any size requires whole-case purchases of special diet? Mulling over the question of euthanasia? Go up to the desk here and ask if there's anywhere you can get some water. You bet--they told me to use the sink in the bathroom. The front desk staff is composed of "mean girls." But I had lived with it for the past year because I liked the vet who was there. When I went back the next morning to get collar and blanket, one of them just shoved them at me wordlessly and went back to what she was doing. Don't go here.

We have to go there about every three months. It is a very clean facility and they have very good veterinarians. They even do after hours and they are just good all around. Their staff is all very good, they are all friendly, the vets are friendly and communicate with you well. They really check your animals well.

Wellborn was more than super. They are very caring with my animals. My cats have been able to live a long time because of their work with them. One had diabetes and lived for over 18 years.

We have been taking my dog and cat to Wellborn Vet for many months and they have always been kind and helpful. The vets they have are really great and I have no complaints on their doctors. However, last time I went in to just get my dog's nails trimmed. The lady at the counter insisted they take the dog back with them while I waited. I understand a lot of people do this, but not me. I insist on being with my dog while services are performed and it took some convincing before she agreed. So they take us back in the lab area where I witnessed one of the techs jerking and yelling at another dog being serviced. I was appalled! I even made a comment about them wanting me to leave my dog alone with them and that's what happens, heck no. While I was checking out I also overheard one employee tell another employee "half the people back there aren't even certified." She was referencing the techs working back in the lab area. I was so astonished and the woman who said it looked up and realized I'd overheard it and had this look like she knew she did something wrong and shouldn't have said that. I was dumbfounded and speechless, paid my bill and walked out. We will not be returning.

They have a really great staff. They are quick to help. When we call with questions they are really helpful over the telephone. They are really flexible in setting up appointments, always willing to work with us. The price listed is for a check up and shot.
