My experience with DS Tech Solutions was terrible! I took my slightly used Sony computer to them on June 12, 2013 because it was sending an error message sending that it could not connect to a network.
I left the computer with the receptionist indicating my complaint. A few days later a technician called to say the hard drive had failed and had to be replaced. I questioned the diagnosis but he said it would only cost $40.00 for the hard drive and I had already invested $75.00 for the diagnosis so I told him to go ahead and replace the hard drive. A couple of weeks passed and I finally got a call apologizing for the delay and telling me that the replacement hard drive had proven to be defective (this would be the one the receptionist told me was ordered in error ? not defective) and another one would have to be ordered. At that time, I was told that the hard drive would be $51.00.
I agreed to the additional $11.00 and asked what the final cost for the repair would be. I was told only that in view of the time they had my computer that they would be ?more than fair? with the final charges. After more than a week more (a month after I took it in), someone called to tell me that my computer was ready and that the final cost was $292.82
When I went to pick up the laptop, the receptionist said that the delay was actually because they ordered the wrong replacement hard drive the first time. The cost they charged for the hard drive was $68.00. The invoice indicates that the hard drive is not a Sony hard drive but rather a Toshiba. That means that I paid $28.00 more for the hard drive which is really not intended for a Sony product. In addition, DS Tech Solutions was to install a Norton antivirus program which they did not.
They were less than truthful about the complications with the hard drive and I question the $225.00 labor charge for this work. I provided a complete set of backup discs when I took the computer to them and they claimed they didn't work right. Their honesty, integrity and technical knowledge are seriously lacking!
