Beware of Chad Billings!  He's a great smooth talker and salesman.  He'll make great promises, but won't follow through.  Our bathroom remodel was estimated to take 2-3 weeks that started on 7/8/10.  (Note the "completion date" above.)  Work did not happen as promised.  I wasted lots of valuable time waiting on Chad and/or his workers that showed up hours late or not show up at all.  A lot of the work was not done according to the design plan resulting with most of it having to be redone.  For example, granite counter tops cut with wrong shaped sinks were installed, mirror cut the wrong size was installed, wrong style baseboards were installed, and the list goes on and on.  The quality of work was mediocre at best.  (However Chad brags about doing work for high end homes).  Chad rarely showed up to supervise his subcontractors, even though he said he would stop by everyday to manage the project.  I had to play the part of the contractor more than Chad (and he got the contractor fee!).  His subcontractors complained that they were not getting paid, even though we had already paid Chad.  It is also a bad sign if a general contractor doesn't have regular subs.  There were a lot of subs that quit working for Chad during the course of our project.  And some vendors told me they will never do business with Chad again.  A couple of subs that Chad hired were inexperienced and caused more damage than what they were trying to fix.  Chad required a substantial percentage of money in his draw schedule and once Chad had the bulk of our money, we couldn't get a hold of him.  The bathrooms were at an unusable state for 4 months.  Our project with Chad ended with the bathrooms being incomplete.  At the time of our remodel, Chad was doing business through his company C.R. Billings Construction, LLC which now is supposedly bankrupted.
Beware of Chad Billings no matter what company his is with!  He has been sued many times and has had numerous construction companies.  When one's in trouble, he just opens up another company.  All of Chad's companies are listed under the same address: 14901 Quorum Drive Ste740, Dallas, TX 75254 which is in his father, Charles Billings' office.  Chad's father is an attorney and he acts as the registered agent of Chad's companies.

Chad convinced us to let his crew handle the project end-to-end while we were out of town on our anniversary trip. Unfortunately Chad had some medical issue during that time frame and wasn't able to oversee the project as hands-on as he claimed that he normally would have. As a result, the following things happened while we were out of town: the contractors used our bathrooms (as evidenced by the urine stains we came home to), they helped themselves to food in our pantry and they used my eight ft ladder for painting the kitchen (which would have made me liable had an injury occurred). When all was said and done, though, the kitchen looked great but we began to receive threatening phone calls and emails from the tile company because Chad never paid them (in fact they will only do business with Chad now if he pays them up front). Furthermore, the dishwasher installation was faulty and we had to replace the warped plywood under the sink at our own expense even though the incident occurred within his alleged "one year warranty" period. I logged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about the latter issue since Chad stopped returning my phone calls and he never bothered to respond to that either - this is reflected in his "F" rating on the BBB website if you'd like to validate it.

This was total kitchen remodel with removal of two walls, including 1 load bearing. Work took about 6 months--much longer than I was told.  I would NEVER use CR Billings again, even though my kitchen looks great (except for a 5-foot long crack in the ceiling). My brother (in construction for 30 years) said the wall board job was the worst he had ever seen. I made Billings do it over. He required a substantial percentage of money up front and then when the job was nearly done seldom showed up to finish probably because he was off getting the up front money from others. He lied to at least one subcontractor, telling him I had not paid when in fact I had paid. Two subcontractors threatened liens because they had not been paid by Billings even though I had paid CR Billings in full.I understand that In Texas law I can again be liable. In the future I will require a release of lien from each subcontractor as each finishes his job. If that is not provided, I will write the check to all the subcontractors as well as the general contractor.

He never came back or performed the work.  Last message we had was that CR Billings LLC was declaring bankruptcy.

Chad Billings was paid in full for the entire job and he did not pay his subcontractors at all for any of their services.  All subcontractors tried to place liens against our property in the amount of $54,000.  However Chad could not be contacted and refused to provide any receipts or outstanding bills for the job.  Additionally Chad was proud of the fact that he was able to talk the subcontractors into performing work without contracts thus he was able to not have to pay them for services rendered.  All of the workmanship was inferior and we spent an additional $45000 correct and finish the work so that it would pass the city of Allen final inspections.  Do not hire this company or have this individual do any work for you.  If you do use American Express to pay for the job and hold out until you are completely satisfied with his work.

We signed the contract and paid up front in full.  He never bought the materials or showed up to do any work for this job.  He never answered or produced any proof of trying to accomplish the work. He refuses to account for the money expenditures and declares he is going to file bankruptcy.  Instead he took the funds and started a new company called Primetime Flooring LLC in Dallas. Do not hire this individual or his father as both are going by the name of CR Billings.

Do not hire this company or speak with anyone from Primetime Flooring or CR Billings LLC.  They are one and the same. No work was ever performed on the patio.

Contractor does not answer/return calls.  Contacted project manager who informed me that he has gone out of business, making warranty useless.  Plumbers who did work did honor work on their part and repaired leak under sink.  But they were not responsible for the damage the leak had done and so we had to pay for the repair work, approx. $175.

Update: the bill was paid We really liked Chad, and he had the best estimate for our job. He also had good ideas, so we decided to use him.  Once the job was nearing completion, and actually after he got all of our money, things changed.  We chalked it up to a new foreman he was using, although I did read on a service magic review that someone else had bad service after all their money was received.  We gave him the benefit of the doubt, and thought he was trustworthy.   HOWEVER!  A couple of months later, we got a bill from a subcontractor he used, saying they were going to put a lien on our house for work he ordered for our address that they could not get him to pay for.   After contacting him, he assured us he would pay it, but several tries later it is obvious he has no intention of paying it.  The subcontractor said we are not the only ones he has done this to.  He also has not returned a house key!  I am assuming he is having financial difficulties, and wish he would have talked to us about this instead of showing so little concern. Now we are forced to pay this bill

Overall the project went very well, especially in the way delays were handled by Chad (the owner) and Mike (the project manager). Our first delay came when the manufacturer backordered the tub for 3 weeks. So the group worked around this putting in tile and building the cabinets. Unfortunately when the tub arrived, the manufacturer sent the wrong tub. The tub was the central part of the bathroom and so all measurements depended upon it. We located a new tub locally that although it did not have the specific bells & whistles as the original tub, it met most of the requirements. However, measurements for the new tub were different and so modifications had to be made. To offset the additional time caused by this, the group stepped up to installing many additional perks. The group also built in a custom shower seat with a storage cubbyhole that's great! It is also important to note that when there were any problems, in EACH case, Mike and or Chad made sure they were resolved to the owners? satisfaction. The contract had been written with a penalty clause for delay, which was never implemented because of the Exemplary level of customer focused service. Part of this can be attributed to Mike who was a great project manager with very helpful ideas, and Chad (the owner) who was good about being onsite when needed and the fact that Chad provided a written warranty to back up his work. As for punctuality, I would have liked to have been kept apprised of the schedule more.
