We actually moved in on the night of the 5th. We had all of our items in the duplex by midnight, we then were exhausted so we took a shower. When I got out I headed in the kitchen to get a drink and at my feet was a flood of water in the kitchen, out of the wall under the cabinets, and into our living room where my white couches were flipped on their backs waiting for the legs to be put back on. It soaked everything from the kitchen to the living room wall, however my couches stopped most of the water, by soaking it up. I literally lifted my couches up on there feet and water poured out of the couches. Of course we cleaned up all of the water, made sure nothing else was leaking, called it a night and went to bed. The very next morning, Monday the 6th, we went straight up there to speak with them. We were explained that this happened in a previous duplex that was built at the same time, so it wasn't a first for them. Obviously I was furious, and wanted it fixed immediately!! That day they sent carpet people out to soak it all up, then the same plumbers whom did not fix it right the first time, and the reason it flooded and they turned on the water to see where it was coming from, so it again flooded, then the carpet guys came back out, then they finally decided to replace the carpet and padding in the master bedroom, due to it flooding here as well. This is all over a span of 5 whole days, and in which they made one of us be there the entire time, so we missed 5 days of work and school to go around their schedule and to get this complete so we could finally get settled. I was so very upset. Then towards the last couple of days, I was just over it. My fiance spoke with the owner, Mr. Landry, and he came to the property to look at everything, noticed missed things, the plumbers cut the drywall to fix the leaks and just left it behind the oven, it was just messy. He also saw my couches and explained to my fiance how he would not be replacing them because they had some scratches and were not brand new, and my fiance asked what he was going to do to make this right because at this point we had endured so very much from this flooding mess. He explained that he would take 500 off of next months rent for my fiances time. At this point I was ready to just give up, I didn't know I should of purchased brand new couches with the tags still on them for someone to make it right when things of this nature happen. :( I was so distraught and everything was such a mess, however I decided to push through due to my son being excited about the move and it being so conveniently close to his school. So I swallowed all of it, the not helping with my now ruined couches, the mess, the people and all of the time and stress. And then on the 21st I received an email stating that they had received the electric bill through the 16th of the month and how I needed to pay it since we signed on the 1st. At this point, I had lost it, and explained how I dont mind paying from the day when all of the work was completed through now, however I did not feel like the huge carpet cleaners, twice, which was 3 full days, and all the plumbers drills and other equipment and them being hot and turning the air down and us not even living there until the 14th, was now our problem. I had already swallowed sooo much at this point, however I couldn't this one as well. I only wanted them to make it right, thats it. Nothing over board, nothing extravagant, simply the same exact thing anyone would want or expect. At this very point we are already out $2200 (1100 for first month, 1000 deposit), then 5 full days of work for my fiance ($950), new couches like my last ones ($1225.00), and now they are wanting us to pay for their electric bill as well, so far total, without the electric bill that is, $4375.00, lets go ahead and subtract that 500 that he is so nicely taking off of next month, still, $3875.00. All we simply wanted was to move in, and enjoy our new place as a family. And since we have signed that lease, it has been a fighting headache ever since. I would NOT in ANY way shape or form recommend this company, nor ANY of it's properties. Look how a brand new one that was finished being built in February has went for us. He is not fair, he is not genuine and he obviously does not care about his tenants, or about making anything right. Just like he told us, this was a costly expense for him as well, and he has already had to eat so much money, that he can't give us brakes for it as well. This company is absolutely horrible. He specifically told me that if the 500 dollars that he is knocking off of next month is not good enough then we can move. If you do rent from these people, go in with absolutely ZERO expectations.
Description of Work: We signed our lease on March 1st with them, for newly built and never lived in duplexes.
