I called on the weekend and left a phone message asking for advice and if they could help. Monday morning I got a return call from Dan Lansford, who was interested in fixing my Cabeza de Vaca's horn although it was obviously not a big taxidermy project. He sounded fair and honest, and after I made the trip there I felt very lucky to have found the Lansfords. I dropped my repair project off and picked it back up a couple of weeks later at a price way less than the other places I'd called.
Their studio is a workshop filled with hundreds of preserved animal specimens and hides; quite an amazing sight to see. Made me really appreciate the craftsmanship and years of experience it takes to develop this type of specialized skill.
