Longhorn Driving School

Don't waste your time or money! My daughter completed the classroom portion then for weeks could not get a drive. Once we finally got one, the only one available, and it was for the one evening we could not use it. When I emailed I was told that if we didn't get a drive at least every 3 weeks to call and they would give us a drivetime manually. So, basically you are only going to get a drive every 3 weeks. That would take 5 months to complete the driving portion of the course. So I asked for a refund of that portion of the course and decided to take my money to Austin Driving School My older child had a great experience there. I had to call 3 times to finally get the refund. We paid $395 for the course and the refund was (drum roll please) a whopping $30. As if I was inquiring about enrolling a child, I called and asked them and they told me if I did just the driving portion of the course it was $300. I then asked for an explanation as to why the refund would only be $30 and "they would look into it and call me back.' They did call me back (unbelievably) and this was the answer- they discount everything on the Gold Package that I paid $395 for and when they refund they refund based on the services you received (classroom instruction and the certificates) AT THE FULL PRICE of those stand alone services. Additionally, they bill you a $50 "refund processing fee." The right thing to do would be to refund based on the discounted rate as its not OUR fault that they don't have the staff available to complete the driving portion of the course. The right thing would be to not charge the laughable $50 cancellation fee. I did have to BEG for the refund to begin with and it cost them a stamp- thats it! Clearly they put these kids in the classroom like cattle and have no interest in whether they have the staff available to handle the drive times. I WILL be reporting to the BBB and I WILL be disputing the charge with my credit card company if they don't make this right.

It was a pleasant experience for my wife, Just after first class she got enough confidence that we could start practice our own. The instructor was punctual, patient and very helpful. at the end of the course she could pass behind the wheel and got her drivers license.

The classroom portion the class went very well. The behind the wheel sessions are another story. It is very near impossible to schedule a behind the wheel session. After 2 months I have managed to only get 1 session scheduled. The open slots are posted to the on line sign up site at noon every Tuesday. All sessions are full within 3 minutes. If I knew this in advance I would have found a different school with a better method of scheduling.

We were very satisfied with our experience with Longhorn Driving School. They were very thorough in making sure my son was prepared for the driving.

I was an adult student (31) with very little experience in driving (just some car parks the neighborhood late at night.) Scott was informative, patient and supportive. He'd pick me up and drop me off from my house. Occasionally he'd be late due to the lesson before, but he'd ring to let me know and always make up the time later. He actually ended up giving me more lessons than I paid for because he wanted to make sure I was completely ready.

I had 7 full lessons (and a little bit more the morning of the test) and then took my test and passed 1st time. I met another Longhorn driving student in the queue to be tested and he passed 1st time too.

You might find some not so favorable reviews on here and other sites, but those were from when Longhorn Driving School was run by completely different people. These guys are pros.
