Austex Air Conditioning & Heating LLC

Owner drove from Round Rock to SW Austin which is not his usual area. Put a new capacitor & did not charge us a service call or for the repair. We will be putting in a new a/c unit & will be using this company.

Needless to say, I was worried I'd be broiling for the long weekend. I placed a call to these guys at 11:30 pm, and received a text back within a few minutes, advising that they would have someone out first thing Saturday. True to their word, I had someone at the door at 9:00 am. Josh tested the start capacitors and found issues, swapped them out and in short order, the unit was running again. We buttoned up the unit and said our goodbyes. An hour later, the same issue was back. Within an hour, Josh returned and diagnosed a failing fan motor. They replaced that unit as well, even going so far as to give me a discount on the price, as they had missed this in the intial diagnosis. This is the 3rd time I've used these guys, and I won't use anybody else as a result of the fantastic way I've been treated. When it's time to replace my old unit, these are the guys I'm calling.

Repairman (I believe the owner's son), found loose wires from when ARS Rotor Rooter worked on it (third time they've left things "loose"). Austex could have made up a story about needing a part, etc., but instead showed me the wires that somehow were disconnected, and presto--job done. I was so pleased that I chose to not use a coupon I had for 20 percent discount.

Wonderful!  They responded quickly on a Friday evening.  He worked from the thermostat to the air handling unit to the compression to identify the issue, finally finding a shorted wire.  A quick fix and the A/C was blowing cold again.  Couldn't be happier.

I originally called a competitor to come out and take a look at my AC about a month after their last maintenance visit, because our compressor wasn't kicking on. Their technician came out to look and started tinkering with the relay on my condenser. When he was done, my relay outside was smoking. I don't know how bad off the relay was prior to his arrival, but it is possible that the wires were loosened during the last maintenance visit which would cause something like this to occur, suspiciously enough. I asked him about replacing the relay and rewiring it and he said it would be cheaper to just replace the entire condenser unit if you factored in the cost of the part and labor, since it was a little over a year outside of a 5 year expiration date. He then quoted me a new condenser for $2500+.
I decided to call Dave at Austex after reading some of their reviews and am so glad that I did! He came out promptly to check the unit for himself and had a hard time believing that the compressor in the condenser had actually gone bad given its physical condition and age, etc. He obtained the right part and came back to replace the relay as soon as the weather permitted him to do so. He was obviously very knowledgeable and explained everything very thoroughly as he walked through the process to replace it. In the end, I saved $2200+ and my sanity by calling the right person for the job! Thank you Dave and Austex!

Dave is a fantastic guy. Went way over and above to fix our unit late on a Saturday afternoon. Had all the parts he needed with him. Was very pleasant and professional, and explained everything he was doing. After replacing the capacitors, unit still would not start, ultimately traced to burnt wires on the compressor. After replacing wiring, offered to remove the capacitors he'd added and retest the unit, but we opted to stick with the new components as the old ones could have contributed to our issue, and had been in place at least 5 years (unit itself is 14 years old).
This is the second time we've been helped by Dave. On a prior visit, he swapped out a control board in the attic unit. This entailed him coming out and putting in place an emergency fix for the weekend, and then coming back out to swap the board once he'd received the part he needed.
I'd not hesitate to recommend Dave's company to anyone. A very honest, trustworthy and professional individual.

He was here for several hours, had to call someone else to come and help him fix it. I think in the past someone had some some faulty repair work. He was up front with me about the issue. There was a bad wire and he said he would have to see what the warranty company said to see if they covered it. The company said they didn't cover wiring problems, and I needed more work. I thought that Austex handled the situation very well.

They installed the equipment that I wanted. I did a lot of research on this and found what I wanted, he went out and purchased this for me, and installed it. He did a great job, I can't say enough about him, I am very impressed with his workmanship, and dedication to service.
