We took our tv in for repair at the end of Oct of 2013. He told us that the problem was the motherboard and it would take a few days to fix it. He required full payment before he fixed it. My husband call a few days later and was told they needed or order the part and it would be done in 3 days. Two weeks later, after no communication my husband called again and they said the part hasnt come in yet and that once its in they would call us. Well this went on for a month. He kept calling weekly getting the same answer. We were kind of stuck because he had our TV and our money. My husband looked them up online, which he kicks himself for not doing it first, but nothing but complaint after complaint about the same issue. He called again in April and was told ummm its been done. Nobody called us to let us know. The TV still has the same issues as before. I dont think they repaired anything. They are rude and a joke of a business.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY......RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! They had my parents TV for almost a month and had charged them over 600.00 for the repair he was planning to do. Gregg, with the company told me he was waiting on the part. I finally told him we were coming for the TV and wanted our money back. He said he would have to keep $150.00 for his service fee. At this point, we wanted to be done with him!! My parents went to pick it up, he said he would have to credit the CC for the remainder they had paid. He signed a paper stating when he would credit them. He NEVER credited them their money. Now, the cc company is taking care of it. My parents are older and I was furious that this happened to them. He needs to be exposed everywhere. Reviews on the internet all say the same thing. From what I read he has done the same thing to many others. He is a thief and a lair!!
Description of Work: This company was supposed to replace a part on my parents flat screen TV. After a month, all they got was a charge on the cc with no TV.

On January 13th, 2012, I dropped off an Optime Projector to be repaired at Corbin?s T.V. at 241 E. FM 1382 Suite # 321 in Cedar Hill, TX 75104. I picked up the projector the following day, on January 14th, 2012. I took the projector to Corbin?s repair shop to fix an issue with the projector overheating and shutting down after 15-20 minutes of usage. The projector is two years old (purchased it in December 2009), and has worked perfectly until December 2011, when I replaced the light bulb inside the projector. Upon dropping off the projector on January 13th, 2012, I informed the representative at Corbin?s that I thought the new light bulb might be the cause of the projector turning off after little usage. The representative informed me that this would not be the cause because the projector would not power on if the light bulb was the incorrect size. I was then told I would receive a phone call with a free quote once the projector had been evaluated. The following day, on January 14th, I received a phone call from the representative notifying me that the projector had been repaired and was ready to be picked up. I had not given my consent for the repairs to be done or received a quote as promised. The only repair that had been completed was the cleaning of the projector?s fan. The invoice I received was not itemized and did not show the hourly cost of labor. There was no part replacement for the projector and on the receipt the only detailed description was, ?cleaned out fan.? The total price was $269.60 (excluding tax), which seemed excessive considering the only repair that had been done was the cleaning of the projector?s fan. Also, there was not a breakdown on the receipt of how many hours the repair took along with an hourly rate to verify the amount charged was correct. Despite these issues, I paid the bill as I was concerned I would not receive my projector back if the amount was not paid in full. I took the projector home but did not power it on until February 24th, 2012. The projector turned on as it had previously done; however, after 15 minutes of running it overheated and powered off ? the same issue I had with it prior to taking it to Corbin?s for repair. I tested the projector out again two days later, on February 26th and after 15 minutes of usage the projector turned off as a result of what seemed to be overheating because of the light bulb. The project was still covered under Corbin?s 90-day warranty policy, so I took the projector back to Corbin?s on March 2nd. I explained to a new representative that I was experiencing the same issue as before and I believed the problem pertained to the replaced light bulb. I was told by the new representative that the projector should be ready to that following Monday, March 5th. On March 5th, I called Corbin?s to find out the status of the projector and spoke to the same representative. He told me that he was extremely busy and would repair the projector that Wednesday, March 7th. On March 7th, I did not receive a phone call from anyone at Corbin?s. I followed up again that Friday, March 9th after not hearing from anyone. At that time, I spoke with the same representative that confirmed he was working on the projector and told me to call back the next day. I followed his instructions and called the following day, March 10th. This time when I called I spoke to the owner, Greg, who was assisting with the repairs. I explained to him the problem I was having with the projector and he informed me that the projector was still not ready but was being worked on. I confirmed with Greg that I would follow up again in several days to find out the status. On March 15th, I called and spoke to the second representative that I dropped the projector off on March 2nd. He again told me the projector was being worked on but could not provide any additional detail of when it would be ready or what the issue was. He told me to call back the next day as it should be ready to be picked up by then. As instructed, I called again the following day and spoke to Greg who said the same thing, that they were working on the projector and it would be ready in one more day. Greg went on to say he would call me the next day to inform me that I could pick up the projector or give me more detail on why the projector was not working. I did not receive a phone call the next day, March 16th, from Greg or anyone at Corbin?s. Not until the next week, March 21st, did I call Corbin?s again to find out the status of my projector. This time upon calling, I spoke to the first representative I worked with when I dropped my projector off on January 13th. He was not aware of the current situation, so I proceeded to explain the projector had been dropped off a second time and it was approaching three weeks without any resolution or timeframe when the repairs would be complete. Additionally, every time I was told the projector would be ready the next day and that no one would return my calls as promised. He went on to tell me the projector was being worked on and that Greg would personally call me back the next morning with an updated status. At 12:12 PM, the following day on March 22nd, I had not received a phone call from Greg or anyone at Corbin?s, so, I proceeded to call again. I spoke to the same representative as the day before. He said Greg had stepped out and would return my call. I informed him that it was approaching three weeks and eight phone calls without any resolution. Every time I called I was told the same thing and no one could tell me what the issue was with the projector or provide a timeframe when it would be fixed. Also, each time I was told my phone call would be returned it never was. I informed the representative that I would be at the store Saturday, March 24th to pick up the projector and Greg could reach me before then to update me with the status of the projector. Greg did not call that day or the next. On Saturday, March 24th, I picked my projector at 1PM. The projector had not been repaired and is still experiencing the same issue I had prior to taking it to Corbin?s. I explained to the representative at the store everything outlined above and indicated to him I would file a claim with the Better Business Bureau, Angie?s List, ServiceMagic.com (website that referred me to Corbin?s TV repair) and file a small claims proceeding with Dallas County to recoup the money spent to have the projector fixed if Greg did not follow up on the matter by end of business day, Monday, March 26th. The representative, whom was the original store associate I worked with on January 13th, was emphatic to my situation and said he would tell Greg of my intentions. Additionally, the representative said he thought Greg should, ?make things right? but was unable to resolve the matter himself, since a refund would be at the owner?s (Greg) discretion. I also requested a second receipt that proves I picked the project up on March 24th. I asked the associate to indicate on the receipt that the projector is still not working, but he said he felt uncomfortable doing so without speaking to Greg first, despite telling me the projector was still broken and had not been fixed. Also, he did not offer an explanation why the repairs where originally complete without my consent or a initial quote and he could not provide me an itemized receipt copy upon request that shows the amount of hours and hourly labor cost it took to fix my projector. At this time, I am still uncertain how Corbin?s came to the bill total of $269.60. I want to ensure that other patrons do not experience the same issues and waste of time and money I did at Corbin?s T.V. at 241 E. FM 1382 Suite # 321 in Cedar Hill, TX 75104. To Angie's List Representative: Please contact me at the phone number provided with any questions. I can provide receipt copies and an outgoing call list upon request for further verification.Sincecerly, Kevin Saller
Description of Work: Corbin's TV performed services but was unable to repair Optime Projector as agreed upon. Attempted repair without my consent or a free quote as advertised. Did not provide an itemized bill that included hourly cost of labor and amount of hours spent working on projector. Could not provide itemized receipt copy upon request or provide hourly labor rate. Corbin's TV never could determine the issue with projector or cause of the problem. I still was charged in full and never issued a refund. Owner (Greg) would not return my phone calls when trying to find out the status of the projector. When I called Corbin's, I was told the projector would be ready the following day eight times by the company, in which case, every time it was not ready as promised. Have also contacted the Better Business Bureau and ServiceMagic.com (website that referred me to Corbin’s TV repair), in addition to filing a small claims with Dallas County to recoup the money spent to have the projector repaired. Please read detailed descripition below for additional information.
