Overall, this was a nightmare experience.  I sold my used engine to him for a pittance of $500 and was sold a "new" outboard that was at least a year or more old.  I would not deal with him ever again for anything.  He definitely took advantage of my ignorance of outboards and did only those things which were most advantageous to himself.  He eventually took the "new" engine back and I got a refund on the "new" engine.  I still lost at least $3000 considering the repair bills and loss of the original used engine.  I fist stopped by his business just to ask some questions, as I am recently retired and was thinking about getting a fishing boat that my wife and I could use.  Perhaps I asked too many questions.  In my opinion, he was not totally truthful about the repairs to the used motor or the "new" motor.  I will not be doing business with him again.
