Brian, Greg, and their niece Serena were fabulous to work with and did a beautiful job refinishing 3 rooms of engineered red oak flooring that were somewhat scratched and dinged. It was reassuring that the business owners actually did all the work themselves. The floors now look better than when originally installed, with a much more natural looking finish. After getting our input, Brian provided us with samples of different stain colors and finishes so we could pick what we liked best. He worked with us to do the job in 2 phases so our house wasn't completely disrupted all at once. We cleared out the largest room first, and the team refinished that one. A couple of weeks later, we moved the furniture from the other 2 rooms into the room that was already done and the team came back to refinish those rooms. This was less efficient for them, but they didn't charge us extra for that. The work was immaculate, and they contained the dust completely by hanging plastic and using machines that caught most of the dust. We had no cleanup to do afterwards (other than getting a painter to repaint the shoe mould that was removed and reinstalled). They worked extremely hard, sometimes late into the evening, to get the job done on our schedule. We would definitely use them again. Their price per square foot was considerably lower than another longstanding Austin flooring company that gave me a phone quote (and wouldn't have allowed us to break the job into 2 phases).

The work done was excellent quality. The floors are beautiful. The communication with the people on site was excellent. They were extremely accommodating to us since we were still living in the home while they worked. I would definitely hire them again. In fact, we did hire them again to do an additional room and hope to hire them a third time to do a final room.

We had been trying to find someone we trusted to clean and refinish our floors. Adams Hardwood is simply the best. They are a family owned business and were very pleasant to deal with. They did an excellent job on the floors for a very reasonable price, and they communicated with us every step of the way. I wish I had found them sooner!

We had a great experience with Adam's Hardwood Flooring from start to finish and couldn't be happier with the results - our floors are gorgeous!  Shirley was great to work with on scheduling each of the appointments and the work itself.  My husband enjoyed working with Willie when he scoped out the project and it came in at less than we expected.
Willie also made him feel comfortable with how they would perform the work.  We were a little concerned because we have woodwork around the doorways (transoms above) and the baseboards/quarter round are in the same wood stain.  If some of them were ruined, we were afraid they would be hard to match.  Their son, Greg, and the team delivered on the expectations Willie set - they were very neat with the work and did an excellent job.  They were so careful with removing the quarter round that not a single piece was broken and they were able to place them all back down.  You can't even tell they were ever removed.
As far as the finished result, the floors look brand new!  Everyone that's seen them is very impressed and rave about how wonderful they look.  We definitely recommend Adam's hardwood flooring to anyone wanting their hardwood floors to look like new again!

We'd just purchased our 1932 house and decided it would be best to get any floor work done before move-in.    Willie came out and was very straightforward about the condition of floors and honest about what needed to be done.  He talked me out of a more expensive refinish because the floors were too worn to handle any sanding.  He was sympathetic with our need to get work done quickly so we could move in.   He made extra effort to schedule us in right before New Year's and offered a very fair price.
Floors looked really good once they finished.  We had some problems with the wood filler - it refused to dry.  Best guess it was due to the type of filler and/or cold weather.  After waiting a while and it didn't dry, they came back and replaced all the filler and fixed the polyurethane coating in those areas.    All is well now, we've been happy with it for a few months.
I'll go back to these guys if I need future floor work.

Willie, Shirley and their son, Brian, run a first-rate operation. Shirley set everything up. Willie advised me on the proper finish - oil in my case to bring out the color of the wood. Brian and team did the work. Willie inspected and checked in repeatedly to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. My floor turned out amazing. The floors went from being an eyesore to the best part of the house. I've done a lot of remodels and it's rare to find a contractor of this quality. I highly recommend them for your floors.

This was a big job. Two of the rooms had the floor redone within the past 10 years and were a different color than the rest of the house, which had been covered by carpet. Two other rooms had bad scratches and one room had a strange stain. Overall, the floors and stairs turned out beautiful. To help disguise some of the scratches and the stain, I went for a medium walnut stain and quot;special walnutand quot;. It brought out the grain of the oak. Adams Hardwood Floors was able to lighten the stain considerably and sand out almost all of the scratches, some of which were very deep. My husband and I were very pleased with the result. Willie, Shirley and their son were easy to work with. Willie met me at my house in Taylor to give the estimate and at the end to do the final walk through. I used them at a job in Elgin about 10 years ago, and was quite pleased with those results as well.

Overall, the floors turned out beautifully. Very complete and professional service. Shirley was friendly, conscientious, and flexible in scheduling service. Willie, sons, and staff worked very h****** floors that were 18 years old. Attention to quality was evident, with my insistence at times. One large stain could not be removed - wish now that we replaced red oak boards. Provided follow-up service to correct a few flaws -- turned out better than they were. Overall -- hard work, exemplary service with GREAT results. NOTE: There was one incident in which a worker suspended an expensive chandelier with a bungee cord and it fell -- breaking a couple of crystals. It could have been a huge disaster.

Amazing job!!! I have oak flooring, installed in 1922. I removed an old closet and flooring had to be installed to cover the area and blend it into the existing floor. I dare anyone to find the area - the old flooring was feathered into the existing flooring and no one - including me - could point out where the old flooring ended and the new flooring began. Then half of the dining room, two bedrooms and a hallway were sanded and refinished to blend into the rest of the homes flooring that was refinished a few years ago. Adams worked with Lowes to obtain the stain and finished used previously ( and believe me - it was definitely not as easy as it sounds ). The floors match PERFECTLY! Then they installed new flooring in the remodeled kitchen. Again - matching the material and appearance to the flooring originally installed in 1922.
I feel myself incredibly lucky to have found Adams Flooring. The potential for disaster was huge. However, the price, the workmanship, and the incredible professionalism I experienced with the project are beyond what I could have ever hoped for. I have yet to have anyone walk into my home and not comment on how beautiful my floors are. Thank you so much!!!

They were excellent. The whole company was wonderful. We didn't know what kind of color we wanted on it whether we wanted real shiny or not and his salesman got on the phone, got me on the internet and they showed me pictures. They just went really out of their way to help me. They were just very nice people. The helpers were nice and the owner was nice. The price was very reasonable. We got quotes from different people and they were the best.

They were very good. We had a couple of installation issues because of the house and they were very easy to work with. One of the owners even went and looked up the stuff for us. They were very good and very honest. They went above and beyond trying to move the stuff around and covered the stuff up, so they were very good. They were very responsive to what we needed.

The entire experience with this company was beyond excellent. The other reviews had me hopeful, and I was not disappointed. Willie and his team were so easy to work with and I LOVE my floors. I had about 600 square feet of space to refinish, and they were in and quot;so-soand quot; shape before from a previous do-it-yourself job. Adam's fixed several places where nails were too high to sand the floor safely. They also crawled under my pier and beam foundation to brace a spot that was sagging from previous water damage. I was afraid these two additional items would make the price increase dramatically, but the total for both was $300-a bargain considering the work needed. Willie did a walk-through to give me an estimate and came back afterward to check that everything was done correctly, which it was. I know he would have had any mistakes fixed immediately had there been any. They put several stain samples on the floor for me to see before choosing the one I wanted-a dark brown that made my floor look gorgeous. There were also choices for the type of sealant. I chose the highest grade since my floors had been sanded before and wearing just a little then after this round of sanding. I like knowing I could have gone with a less expensive version had I needed to, but am glad I choose this one.
I agree with a previous reviewer-don't even waste time calling other companies. These guys are a small, locally-owned, but very experienced, company that I would not hesitate to call again or recommend to anyone.

From my first phone call to get information and set up an estimate, my experience with this company couldn't have been better. This is a family owned and operated business and the difference is felt immediately. The experience is personal but very professional. The owners wife gathered all the information needed, and her husband called back the same day to schedule an appointment to come look at the floors, discuss the options and provide an estimate. The work was performed promptly and very professionally. I thought it looked great, but the Owner came by and his more experienced eye decided it needed another coat, and one was applied that afternoon, at no additional charge. They are professional, courteous, and do outstanding work. I highly recommend them.

Save yourself the hassle of getting bids and scheduling appoints and just Call Adams Hardwood Floors. We went through 5 estimates and 2 different contractors before someone referred us to Adams. the first 2 contractors that started sanding had no idea what they were doing and it was obvious within the first 2 days of their work. Then we called Adams to help us!!! Immediately he put us at ease by explaining his process of refinishing our old floors.
Not only did he fix the previous contractors mistakes, he also made our floors look brand new in less than a week. Thanks guys, you did a great job and were very pleasant to be around. Great Crew!!

Adams provided us with excellent service beginning to end. From the quote process, through the finish and trim work, they excelled every step of the way. They were punctual, knowledgeable, and able to help us with the details of getting such a large and important piece of our home in place. We chose a very attractive and high dollar product to put on the floor, and it was done right and it shows.

Adams Hardwood Floors evaluated the floors and stairs, gave me an estimate, emailed a detailed, well-written proposal, and met my time-frame for starting and finishing the work.

I did not know quite what to expect because we had sort of neglected the floors for longer than I want to admit. The floors and stairs had some problems in addition to huge amounts of wear.

They worked for most of the week, with time for drying. They vacuumed up all the dust and things were quite clean when they finished.

The company is family owned and so the people doing the work all know each other quite well. And they have been in business for a long time! They are incredibly pleasant to work with, very professional, and they did a great job!

The floors are beautiful. They gave me information on how to keep them beautiful for a long time. Now I just have to convince my dogs!

I recommend Adams Hardwood Floors highly. I can't think of anything they did that I would change.

My floors look WONDERFUL. I truly cannot say enough good things about this company or these people. As I said, my floors were in bad shape. I don't think they had been touched in at least 20 years, and maybe longer. One room had original floors (so said Willie) from 1935, and two rooms had somewhat newer floors (maybe the 40s). They were honest about the fact that the floors would look 'rustic' and that filling in all the holes was not going to look good. (They filled in a few, though, when we asked.) There was a big hole (from a gas line, years and years ago) that they filled with a dowel. There was no threshold between two of the rooms and they put one in. In fact, they put two in because they thought the first one didn't match well enough. I had looked at the floors that night and hadn't noticed it at all. They went out of their way to make it perfect. What more could you want?! In one of the rooms, someone had put down vinyl tiles and then taken them up. (According to Willie, it was very popular to put down vinyl tiles in the 1950s.) Because of that, there was a grid of water damage, where someone had mopped the vinyl floor and not considered the wood underneath it. They called me to talk about it right away once they noticed (it was hard to see before the floors were refinished). It's patina and there's nothing to be done about it-- but the point that they checked with me before continuing was great. They are upfront, honest, and realistic about everything. They were helpful and answered questions and gave me options throughout the process. They stained a portion of the floor with four different colors so that I could pick which one. I had the option of going with a more environmentally friendly polyurethane-type product. They were upfront about the significant price difference of the only 'green' refinisher they would use. They let me make the decision with all the information. Their price was within $20 of the other estimate I got-- clearly the market for hardwood floors in Hyde Park has evened out. In addition to the wonderful work they did, the Adamses are just good people. We had never owned our own home and hadn't lived in any old apartments, either, so we know pretty much nothing about fixing things. There are old doorknobs that were loose and that didn't line up with the latches (because of foundation work). They fixed the door so that it latched AND taught me how to fix the doorknobs so that I can do it myself next time. They were also interesting people-- great stories about Texas and life and the contracting business and how the flooring industry has changed. Half of my house has wood floors and the other half has horrendous ceramic tile- sort of mauve. We want to change it at some point in the not-too-distant future (after our puppy gets older) but we were concerned about getting rid of the ceramic tile. He said that he could take it all out, but that they dust would be ridiculous and it would take a lot of time. Instead, he suggested nailing down a subfloor over the ceramic tile and then installing hardwood on top of it. That's not a possibility with floating floors, which we had originally thought would make sense. He said he would fix the baseboards and trim (which we don't like anyway) and trim one of the doors that might have trouble closing with the additional 1.5" of flooring. As you can tell, I cannot recommend Adams Hardwood Flooring more. I feel so, so fortunate to have found such a wonderful company, in terms of work quality and general kindness. Hire them! We will definitely hire them to put in new floors next year.

I purchased my flooring from a mill in Michigan and I needed someone to install and finish in the home that I'm building in Austin. I talked to 3 different installers and selected Adams. They did a fantastic job. They performed according to the schedule that they had given me and they kept to their price. The floors are beautiful. I'm a builder and I give Adams my highest recommendation.

They showed up when they said they would. I am a very picky person and I was not happy with the job the 1st time they refinished the floors. They were really good about wanting to please me. They came back and redid the floors. I was very happy with the end results.
