Pleasant people, hard workers.
If you would like to regulate the blower timer yourself, make sure the timer is in an accesible location; and that
you get training on how to set it.
We didn't get the two recommended blowers, just one; and it is sufficient.
We also got a discount for being senior citizens and for paying cash.
Now, the reason for this review after a year.
Due to the lack of response from Vent Craft I hired another company this week to come out and determine the cause of the cold air. Upon opening the vent stack it was determined that the dampner doors (which come as part of the vent from the factory) had been REMOVED. It is possible that the factory left the doors off, however I find this not very likely. If that were the case why didn't Mr. Myers inform us of the deficiency when he was performing the installation? Or return my calls and requests to investigate the open vent on a newly installed item? It appears that he and the company were avoiding me as they were clearly aware that the dampner wasn't functioning and I suspect that he and or his assistant were likely the cause.
I am now paying another company for parts and labor to repair something likely caused by Vent Craft'. They had many opportunities to provide some level customer service but refused to make an effort to do so.
Not only will I not hire or refer them again but I will be sure to share my story with the real estate and home improvement communities.
We've used Ventcraft for a few jobs at our house and always been very happy with their quality, responsiveness, value, and professionalism.
So far I've had them install an exhaust over our range, re-route the vent for our dryer, and install these three exhausts for the bathrooms. All jobs have been completed to my satisfaction.
Rick and Jaime installed a vent hood where none previously existed. Previously we had the ubiquitous microwave with recirculating fan over the cooktop. The work required the installation of duct work up through the attic and out of the roof. They also had to relocate the electric outlet to accommodate the hood. They installed the internal fan and tested the system. The installation was extremely well done. There is absolutely no vibration in the hood or in the neighboring cabinets on both sides of the hood which means the hood is secured very well.
They took the measurements for a stainless steel backsplash and for stainless steel side panes to be used to clad the sides of the cabinet on either side of the hood. Once the stainless steel panels were completed, Camilo and Fernando came out on a Saturday to install them. They knew we were having a dinner party at our house on Sunday so they wanted to make sure the panels were in place. They didn't take any shortcuts with the installation of the panels. It required them to loosen the hood a little to fit about an inch of the panel behind the hood so no gaps would be visible (thank goodness Rick and Jaime thought of that when they did the measurements). Once the stainless had been installed, they tightened up the hood again. The job looks great.
My wife and I like there work so much, I have just asked them to estimate installing a proper light/exhaust fan in our master bathroom.
We highly recommend Vent Craft. All of their people are extremely professional and it is not a cliche to say they really care about their customers and doing the job right.
They quoted 280-340$ depending on the materials used (We bought the hood ourselves) when I had called them to set up the appointment and the final bill was 325$.
When I called to setup the appointment, I had no idea on what brand/noise level/cfm I needed and I asked the person that answered the call for any recommendations. She just told me to get whatever I thought was right (which might have been right from her point of view as she doesnt know the size of the kitchen or the kind of food we cooked.), but still I would have appreciated if she had recommended what was good in their experience. That's the only reason I am giving a B for responsiveness.
They cleaned up before they left and left the kitchen as clean as it was before they came in. They also asked us to call them if we had any questions or any problems at all.
Overall, very pleased and would highly recommend.
Two great service techs called before coming out Joe and Camlio. When they arrived they told me exactly what my options were using the same place in the roof. Their work was excellent they had to cut out a wall to fit the piping in, place new duct work under the cabinet and run it out through the 115 degree attic.
The work was don't in a timely manner with two very professional guys that were very considerate they even asked if they could hook up the cooktop for me if needed.
I got there name from a million dollar home builder in Highland Park. I also had heard there name from several appliance stores so I would not try to do in on the cheap. their price was reasonable, worth every penny for what they did and how nice it looks.
Vent Craft quoted me a very fair price for the installation -- $325. My first quote from the general contractor recommended by Pacific Homes and Kitchen (located in Best Buy) looked something like this:
install 30 inch hood 155.00
pig tail for hood 45.00
duct thru cabinet and thru brick 300.00
install duct cover on brick 125.00
total $625.00
What a saving!
The Vent Craft staff arrived on time and was super nice. Two guys worked quickly and efficiently throughout the installation process. I would definitely use this company again for any future work.
