Great job Champion Insulation!
Dirk S. - Carrollton TX
The first salesman informed me that it would an hour drive from his place to mine and he didn't want to do that. He then said that I might want to buy a special type of ceramic heater that left the house cold but would warm me instead. My furniture would be cold to the touch, but I would be warm. When I asked him if he was not interested in giving me a bid, he then said he could look up my home on the internet, figure out the cost of the Green Fiber insulation, labor, plus tax, and call me back. He did and sent me an email with the bid.
I contacted Dale Cox, the owner of the business, and explained to him what had transpired. I also said that it would take at least two months before I could save up the money IF USI Champion received the bid.
Then I discovered via YouTube what Green Fiber looked like and decided I would prefer fiberglass insulation which can also be blown into a wall and that I would keep looking for another company.
Mr. Cox acknowledged my email and I thought that was the end of this series of emails. I was wrong.
Tuesday evening I received a phone call from a second salesman. I thought it was another company but it was USI Champion. The second salesman said that they also blew in fiberglass insulation, but his phone connection wasn't good. He also wanted me to text him my address - something I do not do. He said he would call me right back, which he did, but he hung up on me after I repeatedly said "Hello." I know the second salesman called me twice because his phone number is on my caller i.d. He called first at 10:16 a.m. and then at 4:47 p.m. AFTER I had returned his phone call.
When he hung up on me at 4:47 p.m., I promptly emailed Mr. Cox about what happened. Mr. Cox's response was that the second salesman had been told not to call me to begin with, but that is not what happened. Instead, I received a third phone call from the second salesman Wednesday morning at 9:10 a.m., in which he states that I misunderstood him, that he was going to call me today. Really? Then why is his number on my caller i.d. at 4:47 p.m.???
I do not know what is going on in that office, but I do know and have the proof that the second salesman called me twice Tuesday whether he will own up to it or not. His attempt to discredit what I said to Mr. Cox is rather irritating. Maybe Mr. Cox should look at the call log for his employee before he jumps to the wrong conclusion. I was telling the truth.
"I regret that after multiple emails and phone calls, USI Champion was unable to help this Angie's List client. Dale Cox"
We called and requested that they return and fill the garage ceiling to a consistent 5.5" depth, fill the spot where the bat insulation was removed and trim the foam to the edge of the wall studs. Champion returned and completed the punch list as requested on 6/7/2014.
We are very pleased with the results and will recommend Champion
They arrived arrived on time and professionally prepared the room, installed the insulation and cleaned up the area before they left.
I was contacted within a week of the installation to see if I was satisfied with the work and my credit card was not charged until I was contacted after the work was done.
We didn't know this until last week when we were trying to complete the sale of our home.
In less than a few days of talking to Champion, they came to our home with friendly staff and blew in insulation and apologized for the oversight.
Bottom line: They corrected the situation quickly; they were professional and stood behind their work. This is good business practice!
I was also impressed with my afterhours (7:30pm) email I sent requesting for a receipt and I saw a quick acknowledgment and response from Dale.
Wow, very impressed!
"I regret that we have angered the member. Our Angie's List customers are very important to Champion Insulation. We have been serving the Angie's List Community for a number of years with great success. Champion Insulation was not contracted by the homeowner for this job, but this home was insulated through a long standing partnership with a Dallas builder. Because this home was new construction, our insulation application was inspected by a City of Dallas inspector as well as a 3rd party inspector. This insulation application passed all inspections. He is incorrect when stating that an R38 is 17 inches. An R38 in Knauf Jet Stream blowing wool is 13 inches- which is what he has said we installed. This can be verified by going to our website. Champion Insulation installed an R38 in the attic of this home. Sincerely, Dale Cox"
The company did have to delay the work by one day which was not a problem for me. The workmen arrived when promised, were very polite, protected the floor over which they had to walk to get under the house, cleaned up nicely and completed the job when expected.
I can tell you that my gas and electric bille have decreased considerably since having this work done almost two years ago.
The installers were professional and did a great job. The sales rep came out to the job site during the installation and also followed up with me after to make sure we were pleased with the work. That follow up really impressed me.
