We were very happy with Rick's Woodworking. He's a little bit quirky, a little bit pricey and he works at his own pace so you have to go into it understanding that it doesn't matter you're the client, you're going to work at Rick's pace and Rick's rules. It came out fabulous. He was able to cut to the style and get the exact pane that the rest of the kitchen cabinetry was done so that it looks like it was built there with the house. He took a little bit of license from what we told him but we're kind of glad we did because it came out fabulous to the point that he knocked out the banister top and built a custom bleacher block top to the banister and it absolutely gorgeous. It all flowed to the rest of the room and again, it looked like it was there from the day the house was built. He gave us this kind of little niche bookcase, it's a 6-inch deep bookcase with each shelf just high enough to hold the DVD or blue ray. He takes forever and it's going to be on of those artiste in that he picks good wood. It's like he's Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapels, everything is done by hand, everything is rubbed out, everything is stained just so and he actually uses his own stain and everything. It comes out fabulous. When he sets up the whole thing you'd go "wow" but he does take forever. He's quirky but we're so happy with his work that every time we get around to woodworking project, we just kind of grid our teeth, pick up the phone and call Rick.

Rick is definitely a top notch craftsman. His work is some of the best ive seen. He uses good materials and fit/finish are very good. However, be aware he comes in with a rather large ego, will give you a very high price quote compared to others. He tends to tell you the way you want things, and doesnt really listen well to what your needs are. We liked his work, but found it difficult to work with him sometimes because we felt he was pushing what he wanted to do as opposed to what we wanted. In the end, he does good work for a high price. Does his quality justify such a high premium compared to others? To me, no.

Rick did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. He under promised and over delivered! Rick provide us a detailed drawing of the upper and lower cabinets to my specifications. The demolition and removal of existing cabinets was done in less than a day and the area was left very clean as promised by Rick. I left one end cabinet which housed my double oven and was concerned with matching the stain of the new cherry wood to the existing cabinet. Rick was able to match it nearly perfectly! I am very pleased! The framing of the cabinets, lowers and uppers, are exceptionally strong and provided very good quality hardware. Rick and his associate personally installed the new cabinets. Rick was personally involved in the design, demolition, construction and installation. A few months later I did hire Rick to perform additional finish work for a built in wine cabinet and finish carpentry around our dining room doors and pantry. I would recommend Rick's Woodworking without any hesitation! I apologize to Rick for the delay in our recommendation, I have been extremely busy since re-locating to Texas from the North West.
