PODS Moving & Storage

PODS personnel were extremely PUNCTUAL. Especially with pickup of the loaded POD. We were still trying to tie down items in a not fully loaded POD when the driver arrived. He gave us 10 minutes to finish and then he was leaving - with or without the POD. Rescheduling would have cost us a week. I was concerned that delivery of the POD would damage the driveway. In no way was the driveway damaged!! Excellent work! CAUTIONS; Be certain you know exactly how much space you need for your goods. We ordered 2 PODS and could have used one plus a much smaller unit. Be careful how you pack within the POD. If you have hired help - WATCH THEM CONSTANTLY. Fragile items were not put on top nor was care taken with some items. Be advised there are small hooks on several of the interior wall posts. However, you will need your own rope and connectors. It is suggested that you tie-down each section as you load. We didn't and many things shifted a great deal. Also, the tie-down hooks were so small, nothing we had on-hand except cord would go through them. We were left with little to use to support the load. This was especially critical on the load that wasn't even half full. What a mess upon arrival! p.s. depending on the height of the unit you use, you will probably need a ladder to reach the highest hook. Also, there are hanging rods that we used for clothing bags. Because the load shifted in transport, all of the bags were ripped from the rod. Hangers were pulled out of shape and clothes were found under other items. Delivery and Retrieval of the units was clockwork. No problems.

Black Mold.  The POD that my belongings were stored in had a leak in the bottom that allowed water to seep in and ruin several boxes of belongings.  There was black mold inside the POD and with my belongings.  
My children have serious allergies and I now have boxes of ruined belongings with mold in my home....
I opened a claim with PODS, and had requested followup within 1 business day, but was told it would take 3 business days.  Both of those timelines have passed with no contact.
I called and spoke with a supervisor at PODS, who would only tell me they weren't liable and said their legal department would contact me if I shared my experience online via social media and other relevant sites.  
If the mold and lost belongings wasn't enough, billing was a challenge - they consistently lost my auto bill credit card number, and would send me 2-3 invoices at a time with undeserved late charges that they would swear to remove.  I spent hours on hold with the 800 number.  Every time, it was blamed on their 'new system'.  
I would not recommend PODS to anyone.  The convenience is tempting, but I would trade 100 trips to a storage unit for the waterlogged, mold infested items ruined while in the POD.

I will revise this review if they straighten this problem out. So far, I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one to stop them from erroneously charging any more. This is NOT a good way to do business.

The Pod itself functioned as described. The quick convenient drop off and pick up are false advertising!

The POD unit was carefully positioned and deposited exactly where I wanted it. The ground was wet so there were some unavoidable trivial depressions made in the lawn where the tires ran but nothing that a season or two of weather won't effectively hide.
The POD is still being used as of this review. The approximate price listed above is the per month charge.
There was an $81 charge for delivery of the POD that included delivery, fuel, and tax. POD pickup charge is estimated to be $69.

Order processing was very easy. The guys delivering and picking up the unit were very courteous and handled everything with utmost care.

They were very efficient. We got what we paid for. They came when they said they would. I would use their services again.

The customer service agents on the telephone were always polite and knowledgeable. I had to telephone them several times throughout the process, also they had to send a fax to city hall for the permit process. The people at city hall said PODS was always prompt with their paperwork. The drivers were also very polite and efficient. I was very happy with the service. They also gave me a list of recommended movers to help me bring things into and take things out of the pod. I called the places in the city that I was moving out of, and they were expensive for my small amount of things. I ended up searching Craig's list and finding a good group of men that helped and charged a modest price.

We had a great experience with them on the front end of it. On the back end, moving into D.C. can be difficult. I think it's important for people to know that in D.C. the pods organization wasn't clear about the permits you need here. In order to get the price they offer, you need to do some of that work on your own. They were definitely the cheapest option.
