We've been relying on Jim Otto for our HVAC services for over 20 years. From simple stuff to complete system replacement ((including ducts), we won't call anyone else. Honest, fair, and reliable--that's Jim Otto.

Jim has been servicing my HVAC systems for years so when it was finally time to replace them, I of course called him. I trust his work and his fees are very reasonable. He priced several options for me and explained the differences between them without pressuring me to buy the most expensive option. I was able to schedule my installation on a day off a week in advance, he and his crew arrived on time, and they finished the installation that day as promised. He installed an additional return and changed most of my vent covers to ones that are more efficient, and also moved a duct in one room that was always too warm. I highly recommend Jim for heating and A/C service, repairs and replacement.

I called several HVAC companies to come take a look at my broken A/C unit and got several estimates. I found most of the companies that stopped by to be overly nice, almost pushy in trying to sell me their A/C unit. I understand their need to be sales people, but it just left me a little skeptical on whether they were being sincere about the price, and that I was getting a good deal. In comes Jim Otto. He was very professional, to the point, not a pushy sales person, definitely very polite and respectful, but didn't push me. He asked me what I wanted out of the A/C unit, and I explained I didn't want to live here forever, and didn't want to buy the next owner an HVAC. He advised that I need to be practical then with what type of unit I wanted. I really appreciated that, because alot of the other companies seemed to want me to get the glitzy unit, where maybe it wouldn't have been appropriate for the size and space of my house. It didn't matter to Jim that he sold me the pricey model, just one that would be the best fit for my house. He very matter of factly explained to me what my options were, and actually talked me into a lower priced model, because he didn't think the extra benefit from a slightly higher priced model would be as great for the money. I really appreciated that. The day of the work went smoothly. He replaced my existing model. I left him a key for my home, and had no problem letting him have the run of my house. He was very responsible, and when I explained my garage door didn't work and to please remember to unplug it when he left, he said he would, and he did. Little things like that matter. He also threw in one additional service that wasn't a part of the deal. He moved an existing thermostat/control from one wall to another to accomadate the new airflow that was interfering with it's effectiveness. He crawled into my attic, and moved the wiring, and moved the thermostat. As a bonus, he came back to fix the hole that was left where the old thermostat was. No addt'l charge. I didn't even ask for the hole fix, but he volunteered. That's customer service. I really appreciate your work Jim, and will definitely use again.

Quick, competent, friendly service from a nice easy-going guy. Jim called be back within a half hour of when I left a message on his voicemail and said he would be able to come over in a couple of hours. When he arrived, after listening to a few minutes of me describing the symptoms of my broken AC, he went outside and opened up the access panel on the air conditioner and quickly spotted the swollen capacitor. He verified that this is a fairly common problem when I mentioned that I had read about other people having capicitors replaced. He grabbed a new capacitor out of his truck and replaced the bad one. He then got out his guages and checked the freon level and verified that it didn't require any. I was impressed with his matter-of-fact, honest demeanor and the patient way he dealt with me peppering him with questions while he worked. Overall, he was just about everything you could ask for in a repairman: straight-shooting, no hype, and very trustworthy. Oh yeah, and he only charged me $107 He is now my 1st call for any future HVAC work.

About two weeks ago, my AC compressor died of old age. Faced with the options of replacing the compressor or replacing the entire system, I decided to explore the cost of replacing the system. After soliciting four bids, I opted to have Jim do the work for two reasons. First, his bid, while not the lowest, was the most reasonable for a high-quality system. Second, Jim had worked with my contractor on modifications to my old system when I was remodeling a few months ago. At that time, he did a great job, and went above and beyond what was expected. Jim is very good at what he does. I know this because I know my contractor, Tyll Brose, only works with the best people. He is also a very nice person who can be trusted to do what he says he will do. I had absolutely no problem giving him access to my home in my absence so that he could do preliminary work on the new system installation. Also, because Jim was involved in the remodel, I knew he would make sure the facelift wasn't damaged in the installation process. Further, I was confident that the quoted price would be the final price...my pet peeve is a bid that takes on a life of its own, and then grows and grows and GROWS! Jim did a great job on installing the new system. My attic is very small, and the area for the air handler is tight. He managed to remove the old unit and install the new one with no damage. When a minor problem developed a few hours after he left, I called Jim. He was back at my house in no time, and quickly replaced a brand new but faulty part. I would not hesitate to recommend Jim Otto (Otto Heat and Air, Inc.) to anyone needing heating/air conditioning service, repair, or replacement. Most assuredly, I will call him when I get ready to replace my upstairs system. Thanks to Jim, my home is cool for the first time in two weeks....and on day 15 of the streak of continuous "over 100-degree" days in North Texas! Incidentally, I should probably say that I have a home warranty that would have replaced my old unit with a new 14-SEER unit manufactured by a company not known for producing a quality product. The cost to me would have been about $3,000. The warranty service provider is located about 75 miles from my house, and has never been able to respond to a service call in less than two days. The Rheem unit that Jim provided is highly rated in quality studies, and qualifies for the $1,500 energy credit. The other unit did not qualify for this. The difference in cost to me, after the tax credit is about $600. It seemed a no-brainer to go for the more energy efficient, high quality unit installed by someone I know and trust, and can count on to respond quickly should any problems arise. I'm very pleased with the choice I made!

It was basically a routine check as we had never had had one done and our interaction with him was very positive. He actually came over to do a review of a unit. Then it went out, but we used the warranty people to repair it. We had limited time on the unit. The guy from Otto was very helpful and came back to check on it even after he was officially finished. I don't know if he charged for the thermostat. I think that was gratis. My sister has also worked with him. She got an estimate this morning from him and she will probably go with him regardless because she likes him. Our neighbors have also used him. We didn't have a lot of comparisons on the pricing, but we were very pleased with his work. The quality of his work was good. We were very pleased with his manner and everything he did. We would use him again in the future.

This company provides the best service I've ever received from any service company of any kind. They installed my A/C system when my home was built in 1988, they added a new unit when we added on to the house, and replaced the original A/C unit when the compressor failed. They have also provided periodic maintenance over the years. They are the only company that has ever touched my systems. They are fair, honest, courteous, ... and on and on. You will not go wrong with Jim Otto.
