I chose this company despite the fact that they were the most expensive because their salesman promised that they would replace any goods damaged in the move. They moved me in April and I contacted them to let them know my refrigerator was dented. They gave me a low ball offer for the repair. I contacted Sears to get the actual cost and forwarded that information to the adjuster. In the meantime (about a week), the refrigerator stopped working altogether. The adjuster told me that they would not cover it because the refrigerator was working when we last spoke. She told me I could not prove that the damage was caused by the move. I said she couldn't prove that it wasn't. Since the adjuster made it clear they would not help me and I needed a refrigerator, I bought a new one and had the old (16 months) one hauled away. I continued to pursue my claim and even offered to accept a settlement for half of the cost of the replacement refrigerator. Today, after more than 5 months, the adjuster came back to me with their original offer that wouldn't even have fixed the dents.

They were flexible with timing and punctual. There were no extra hidden charges at the end, and they were priced competitively. The company was fine, but the driver wasn't great. The driver neglected to bring the wardrobe boxes that were ordered, and stated he wasn't told to. As a result, there was a bunch of items not able to be packed, and we had to make 2 cross country trips with our car to get remainder of our stuff that couldn't get boxed up. There were only a couple small chips in furniture, not enough to report. They did guage my hardwood floor in one spot and covered it with boxes so I wouldn't notice until after signing that there was no damage to the floors. Many of my items were not tagged. This made me nervous that there may be other items not tagged that were not delivered (and a month later, I'm pretty sure some items are missing). The furniture was reassembled, but incorrectly. Several of the heaviest boxes were placed in the wrong rooms, and all the boxes were placed in the middle of the rooms, so we could not move around. The driver was condescending. He did not want me to check off items as they were received. He told me I was anal, despite the fact I was following the instructions of his company. If we had a different driver, I'm sure our experience would have been great.

They were totally professional. I like everyone associated with them. We didn't lose anything, we didn't break anything. They were top quality.

This was a frustrating and very unsatisfying move.  The salesman gave us much hope to receive the driver we wanted. The price quoted was lower than the national movers with assurances that all care would be taken with our belongings.  Unfortunately, the driver we requested was not assigned despite his availability on our date.  Instead,  another driver and crew was hastily assigned to us the morning of our move. They received no instruction about the salesman's promises and assurances with regard to specific requirements to protect expensive furniture that had been discussed at length.

The 5 man crew seemed fine.  I now know that the crew member who loads and packs the van has the greatest responsibility for the quality of care.  Our goods were carelessly loaded and many pieces arrived scratched, scraped, dented, cracked, bent and broken.  The cost to repair and replace the damaged items was almost the same as the moving fee.  Everything we packed ourselves arrived in good condition.  Many furniture pieces were not wrapped carefully enough or were dropped, which caused damage. We had to endure a lengthy claim process for the damages and wait several months for payment.  Now, we must begin the arduous process of arranging repairs.  This is a major headache.

The unloading crew was assembled the morning of arrival at destination.  They were careless and sloppy, and did not take sufficient care, for example, they gouged the wood floor and scraped the doorway when moving in the washer/dryer.  However, because the driver did not fill out a destination damage form, the corporate manager would not take responsibility.  They would not require the contract driver to complete the damage report, and as a result we are "stuck" with the cost of these repairs ourselves.  We got a run-around instead of the company insisting on the driver submitting complete paperwork which would facilitate insurance coverage for this damage.

We have made two previous international corporate moves and one previous domestic long-haul move with less damage.  This short intrastate move was the worst!  I am frustrated and very disappointed with the service provided by this company.  I would never rehire nor recommend them.

The 5 man crew was prompt and professional. There was no damaged to our home or belongings. The move was priced on a flat rate not a per hour charge. I preferred this type of quote. I will definitely use North Dallas Moving when I relocate to a new home.

On packing day, a crew came to the house. The crew leader's name was Linda and she seemed very indifferent to my questions. They were actually saying that they were done. I opened the bathroom door and they had not even gone through the bathroom. It was still full of items. When they finally got it packed up, my husband and I started our drive to Wisconsin. There was a bathroom downstairs that they had still not packed.

There was a box of hardware items missing. We never even saw a hardware box until 2-3 weeks after we started unpacking. There was a large armoir that we were going to donate. It is a good thing that I looked in there because they had put the arms to an antique dresser in there and tied them up. Had I never looked in there, I would not have been able to assemble to dresser.

Nobody followed up on any of this stuff either.

There was a bookcase I wanted to set up in my husband's office. We did not find the pieces for the shelves until a month after we moved in. The things that we did pack, I have never seen more paper in my life. I had a huge box that had lampshades in it. They were all broken. My grandmothers antique piece of furniture was gauged up, scraped up, the leg was completely broken off. They did not end up paying me for any of these damages.

I have for some reason my mother's bowling ball and bowling shoes. One of the packers put this in a box with two antique hat boxes. It ruined them.

I have a basket full of broken furniture pieces. The desk was broken and I had marked that as a high-value item. According to the movers, they had found it that way at the warehouse.

I had another antique corner shelf that was inherited from my mom. It was broken. I ended up gluing it back together myself.

Through all this, I called the sales representative as these things were discovered, and she said I am sorry, I know you are upset. I wrote this letter because after all of this I got a bill from them saying I still owed them.
Response from North Dallas Moving and Storage
"When household goods are transported, there are times when damage occurs even when the utmost of care is exhibited. Regrettably, [member name removed]' did have damage to some of her items. Both parties adhered to the proper procedures for claim(s) adjudication. [member name removed]'s claim settlement amount did not meet or exceed the deductible level ($1,000) of valuation she elected for her move. Therefore we are prohibited by Federal regulations to compensate for the damages."

I contacted this company through Angie's List to give us a moving estimate. A week or so later I got an email from them requesting more contact information, which I provided. They never followed up.
