Archie (the owner) was very prompt in coming by my house and providing an estimate. Once I choose to use Golden Key, they were able to start within 3-4 days (other firms wanted 2 weeks to come and do estimate and were 4-6 weeks out to start work). The quality of the work was very good and his crew cleaned up every day. Would definitely use again.

Again, they did a wonderful job.  They worked quickly, and the end result was perfect.  They even pointed out to me where we had a variety of textures present on the ceiling (I had not really noticed before) and suggested that we re-texture the room for best results.  He was able to match everything else perfectly.  We will of course use them anytime.  And they were really flexible with scheduling.

Archie was fantastic to deal with!  I will definitely use him again on any other projects I have in the future.  He was very quick to respond when I called him, gave me an estimate and stayed true to that estimate.  Archie went above and beyond what I expected. And the finished product looks amazing.

Wow! Wow wow wow!! This is the BEST person I've found on Angies List! After foundation repair, during floor replacement, we found some old water damage with mold under a baseboard. I called Archie Tuesday morning-he promptly came over & looked at what needed to be done. They showed up on time the next day (!! so awesome!!) and got right to work. What was REALLY great was they cleaned up as the work progressed! I'm so impressed with the work ethic, method, AND the end result. It's beautiful! You can't even see the wall was cut & repaired! Wow wow wow!

After demolition of my kitchen, we discovered that there was no drywall behing the cabinets and holes in the floor under the cabinets.  I called Archie who was out of town and he told me to send him pictures. I was concerned that he would quote me one thing and then come up with something much higher once he saw it in person. This was not the case. I met with him the next day and explained that the cabinets were going to be delivered in 6 days. He was able to accommodate me by starting the next day.  Archie, Mike and Goyo arrived bright and early the next day and finished demo and started to build the frame. When I explained that the cabinets were all Ikea cabinets, he checked out the plan and made sure there were studs where needed. These guys worked long hours with cheerful attitudes and great professionalism. They would work to a natural stopping point (when they needed to let things dry) and come back later to complete the tasks. They were always polite, always showed up when they said they would and finished on time for my cabinet install! What lifesavers! I will definitely use them again when it comes time to remodel my bathrooms. Thanks guys!

Archie and his crew did a great job. I had higher cost estimates from 3 other people. They were able to start quickly and they finished the job ahead of schedule. Everything looks great.

The orange peel texturing job in the hallway was atrocious.  There were bubbles in the sprayed on texture, some as large as an inch in diameter that cracked and opened up when dried.  There were large globules (similar to the size of what a popcorn ceiling would have) over the entire wall mixed in with the lower lying orange peel portion.  There were also multiple highly visible trowel lines in the underlying mud.  The overall appearance of the textured wall was just sloppy and careless.  The taping and bedding job was just as poor.  Many areas of the tape wrinkled and warped during the drying process.  The corners that should have been sharp and angular were often sloppy with extra ridges especially near the ceiling.  He skimmed over an existing ceiling that had texture to make it smooth (to match the new walls which were also going to be smooth), but areas around the newly installed can lights and vent fan had sharp highly visible trowel lines.  Worse than all of the above, however, was the fact that, even after I told him to protect the newly installed acrylic tub at all costs, he marred the outer facing skirt with a highly visible red mark, and left his HEAT GUN lying on the  inside of the tub which actually melted the tub's interior rendering the brand new tub completely useless.  He only protected the tub with a thin blue tarp after I expressly indicated I wanted something more substantial like blankets.  The blue plastic of the tarp was also melted into the tub surface.  Of course, I was horrified to make this discovery.  The job was so bad we didn't even feel comfortable bringing him back to make corrections.

Archie gave me a quick and accurate estimate, and was very flexible about start and finish times. He and his helper got the job done in 2 days and I am very happy with the work. Great experience for me to work with this company.

I'm leaving Archie a straight "A" review for the time and effort he took in giving me a bid to redo practically the entire wall & ceiling of my house.  Archie is an experienced professional and I can tell he takes great pride in his work.  He was very thorough and patient in explaining everything to me.  Very pleasant to deal with.  I really appreciate his effort in reviewing the work required.  He showed up on time, and got back to me with the quote within a day.  I went as far as calling one of his references, who had all great things to say about Archie and the quality of his work.  It was a tough decision not to do the work with Archie, but in the end, I opted for another provider who had a $1M general liability insurance... since this was a large project and I felt like I need the peace of mind in case any damages to person or property occur.  I would definitely consider Archie again for future work.  I encourage other Angie's List members to give him a call!

I liked the way Archie worked, he did not rush the mud application on the job, he did the bedding in 3 stages so sanding was less than nothing and my walls are all smooth and even. He and his brother are friendly, polite and very neat and clean. They also cleaned up after themselves so I did not have to, a big plus in my book.
I am hoping that the scheduling works out so that he can do my painting!
Would certainly not hesitate to recommend Archie for drywall work.

Excellent quality, especially for the price paid. The ceiling popcorn was scraped in many areas in order to patch in some cracks and the only complaint is that the new popcorn that was blown up was a smaller size than the original popcorn so that if you're looking for the patch lines you can see them because of the size of the popcorn. But really, who wants acoustic ceilings any more? I'm still giving Archie straight "A's" because he and his brothers have been in the business so long that they truly know what they're doing. The fixture painting was impeccable, and he way underbid it for the effort that the job required (don't tell them we said that because next time they'll probably charge the right amount!).
His brother did two rooms of drywall work for us ten years ago which still looks as good as day one, and we were fortunate to find that Archie was still in the business (we recognized the last name but it had been so long we couldn't imagine that they were the same family - but they were!).
They were here two days and did a good job keeping things very clean. They spend as much time prepping as they do the actual work, and it makes all the difference.

Based on excellent Angie's List reviews by others, I called Golden Key Drywall and left a message on a Friday. I got a call back from Archie at 0530 on Saturday morning (so he gets credit for responsiveness if not for awareness of time zones). After describing the project scope and the drywall task, Archie quoted me an incredibly low price, saying that there might be some adjustment needed after he saw the job site but didn't think it was worth a trip to look for such a small job.  He then asked to bid on a larger part of the total job (demolition, insulation, drywall, and paint).  I took his email address and later that day sent him a full statement of work including my should-cost analysis of materials quantities and costs.  After five days and no response I called to see if he had received the information.  He never called back. After reviewing other competitive bids for the same job, Archie's price was a small fraction of the others for the same scope of work.

Archie is one of the most polite and expert contractors we worked with.  We have remodeled several homes and his drywall work is  by far the best ever.  He was on time, masked off all the areas involved, finished hours ahead of time and left our home clean.  The service was excellent and I would recommend his company to anyone without reservation. He was able to match the various types of finishes we have in our home.  His crew was great also.  We signed up with Angie's list to find a quality drywall repairman / installer and we could not be more pleased.

He was done in time to have the new carpet installed.  That was the deadline I was trying to meet.
Did an excellent job matching textures of both wall and ceilings.  Unless you knew there was a wall there you would never see the repair.

Great work. I got bids from 2 other companies. Picked Golden Key because Archie, the owner, pointed out a couple of problem areas that would also need to be fixed to make the project look right. They made 4 visits and got everything just right, paying attention to the details, cleaning up, etc. And Archie was there a good portion of the time making sure it was done right. Professional and high quality work delivered just as he said it would be.

I worked with Archie on our last project of 4/4/09 (also described on Angie's List). I am happy with him, overall, but I feel that this time it got a little sloppy toward the end at the texturing phase. He and his partner didn't even use a light to make sure that the walls were free from bumps etc..and that the final texture went on evenly. In fact, it was a cloudy day, and there was NO light at all in the large room - electricity was out. It was pretty dark, and they worked that way. You must have a light to hold up to the walls and ceiling to make sure that there are no bumps or gouges, etc... and we finally provided him a fresh bulb to use on his light. Still, the final texturing was not uniform, and it was visible with a light held up to it. He fixed a few things upon our pointing them out, but my husband had to correct and re-texture the entire room to give it that professional, uniform look. This is disappointing because this is what you see at the end, and it is imperative that the final appearance of the walls are uniform in texture. Still Archie is a very nice guy and does a good job, overall. I just think that you need to be very clear about your expectations. If there is something you don't like, he will take care of it, so he's good about that.

I found Archie through another tradesman. I had worked with another drywaller for a different project, but after meeting Archie, I preferred him much more. He was professional and more detailed in describing the work that he will be doing. He stays in touch. He does what he says he'll do and he'll listen to your requests AND he speaks English :o). I'm just very happy working with him and will definitely use him for our kitchen remodel. He's a very nice guy and so easy to work with. Good-natured, and he sings, too!
