I guess I should have read the reviews here before giving him the contract. I haven't seen any other person in my life who is as shameless as the owner. He should not be given any new business.
Complaint Category: Failure to honor service estimate or agreement
Complaint: Forever Green Lawn (FGL), through its owner Todd Morrow, agreed to do a lawn sodding for a fixed price. The job has not been completed.
Forever Green Lawn (FGL) quote of 4/16/2014 was:
Re sod front sides and backyard with zoysia sod.Spray round up to kill weeds.Add soil along foundation and in low spots regrade yard.Raise sprinkler heads if needed.Roll yard when finished.
Total $3,500.00
$1700.00 deposit to purchase material.

I accepted the quote by return email with the specific understanding that zoysia emerald sod would be used.
Work began in a timely manner and I paid the agreed $1700 and quot;materials purchaseand quot; deposit by check on 4/18/2014. Because the FGL website showed credit card acceptance, I had planned to put the deposit on my credit card. Mr. Morrow said they no longer took credit cards so, against my better judgment, I wrote the check.
Immediately, the warning signs started flashing. Mr. ****** would not return my phone calls. My due diligence prior to hiring FGL indicated no complaints that I could find on the usual consumer websites and an A+ BBB rating with no complaints. However, as I dug deeper as my concerns mounted, I found where he had hired a subcontractor late in 2013 and the subcontractor alleged nonpayment from FGL. I confronted Mr. Morrow and he had no valid response.
At that point I decided it would probably be better to proceed and hope for the best rather than try to establish a price for work already completed (spraying to kill old lawn and some tilling.)
After repeated promises that 10 pallets of sod had been ordered and paid for, the sod finally arrived on Saturday, April 26. Mr. Morrow had promised that he and and quot;his guysand quot; would be there when it was delivered. Mr. Morrow did show up at 8 AM but without a crew. A crew did appear in the afternoon and was able to lay sod but only in the front. They did not work on Sunday so the balance of the sod was installed on Monday.
The 10 pallets of sod was not enough, so Mr.Morrow did bring enough additional sod on May 2 to complete the back yard. I paid FGL a $1000 progress payment on May 5
The installer of the original 10 pallets was a subcontractor hired by FGL. The subcontractor came to my home on May 12 saying he had not been paid for his work and that Mr. Morrow would not respond to phone calls and text messages. He suggested that he could come back and remove the sod he had installed as recourse for nonpayment. I suggested to him there are more appropriate ways to handle his problem, which is with FGL, not me.
We had agreed to a $400 reduction when Mr. Morrow said he could use dirt from the yard and would not need to buy additional fill dirt to fill low spots and to raise the soil level around the slab.
After the $1700 material purchase deposit and the $1000 progress payment, it left a balance of $400 remaining of the agreed upon $3,100 price, to be paid upon completion of the work. Work to be completed includes and quot;rollingand quot; the new sod and replacing some dead patches that looked like sick sod going down and has not recuperated. Also, FGL left a pile of now dead sod and a pallet in my driveway which still remains after repeated requests to remove it and promises by Mr. Morrow to do so.
Complaint Resolution: Company failed to respond to BBB to resolve or address the complaint issues.- See more at: http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/lawn-maintenance/forever-green-lawn-maintenance-and-landscaping-in-dallas-tx-23001661/complaints#breakdown
My experience was similar to another description already entered. The work actually completed was high quality. It was the and quot;getting thereand quot; that was the problem. The estimate was 10 work days to completion of the project, which included hardscape, flower bed creation, drainage management, and new plantings. After 68 calendar days, the project was still not complete, and we found a stopping place and said, and quot;We are done.and quot; During that period, there were probably 3-4 rain days and 2 holidays. We paid for all the work completed. This company owner knows what he is doing; he is very knowledgable. The quality of the work actually completed was EXCELLENT. However, there were many beautiful days in which workers did not show up, even after we were assured they would be here. Many calls and texts went unanswered. Why did we stick in there so long with this company? No doubt...it was the owner. He is a likable family man and we felt compelled, on several occasions, to trust him and to give him another chance to make things right.
Continue to use these guys and really enjoy the service and the extremely nice looking results!
