D & J's Home Improvement

We've had Daryl do several jobs for us and he's a very knowledgeable and capable handyman. He only accepts jobs in the general area around his own neighborhood, and those of us who have used him rely on him for a variety of jobs from carpentry to plumbing to tile. He's a great guy and does a spectacular job on just about everything. He's willing to tackle some unusual alterations and repairs by talking them out with the homeowner to determine the best way to do the job. He's also very responsive about scheduling to meet the homeowner's needs. All in all, I can heartily recommend Daryl for any general handyman jobs you may need.

My kitchen looks fabulous!!   I am so pleased with the results.  Danny consulted with me on everything he did.  He helped me pick out the paint color so it wouldn't go too light or dark. He gave me helpful tips on every part of the projects because I love to learn. He assisted me in picking our light fixtures that looked the best.  I was able to bounce ideas off him and he let me know if there were better options so I always felt like I was getting exactly what I needed and wanted and on what he was doing and getting "educated" in all that he did!  I felt like I made a new friend who had my best interests at heart in making my kitchen look so beautiful!!

I have other projects in the house I want to do, both big and small.  Danny and I discussed these future projects and he told me what needed to get done, the estimated price, where I could save money, which is something I greatly appreciated when most contractors would just advice you on what you should do to make them the most money!!

Danny would come in the morning and leave in the evening, working pretty much non stop and making sure my kitchen area wasn't left in a "mess".  I actually had to stop him from doing the dishes when he was working around the sink area!!!

I HIGHLY recommend D & J's Home Improvement!  I can't wait to get started on the next project!!!

Top notch professional. Detailed estimates, with line items for materials. I regret not letting him by the materials, but he provided the materials list free of charge. Promptly answers emails. He is just so much more than you would expect from a handy man. 
The work: He took his time, showed me the detail of the process as he moved through it. A recommended him to 3 of my coworkers, all gave 5 stars for his performance. Especially impressed folks that were trying to do updates to bring the house to market, but weren't sure what to do. Call D&J's if you are not sure what to do or you are not sure how you want it done. He can help you fill in the gaps.

Darel installed a door purchased from Home Depot on 7/7/2014. He graciously offered to pick up the door and bring it over to our house and install it.  It took a bit longer than planned but he did the right job including painting.  The second part of the job involved repairing the balcony siding and it took some time to get on his schedule to get it done.  However, he did the work, it looks great and it also included painting.  Overall, very easy to work with and the do nice work.

I opted for the full day option and I have to say it is a bargain! Darel got a lot done in one day! He also went over my (very long) to-do list with me and helped me prioritize items that would have the most impact as I am getting my house ready to sell.  I will definitely hire him again to knock out the rest of the things I need to do as well as in the future.
He was prompt in returning emails and phone calls and showed up on time for the job. He is also a really nice guy.

1. I found Darel on Angie's list and called the number provided.  Darel answered on the first ring - was very friendly - listened to my project needs and scheduled a visit to my house (at a time convenient for me) to provide an estimate for the project.  On the day of our meeting, Darel arrived a few minutes early and listened attentively as I described my project needs/goals.  He took extensive notes and measurements and answered all of my questions and provided his recommendations for the project. 

Darel called and emailed me a detailed estimate within 24 hours, which included realistic (and reasonable) estimates of cost and time to complete the project.  I knew right away (even before receivign the estimate) that I wanted Darel to complete the work.  Prior to Darel's visit I had received two other estimates for the exact same work/project.  Those other estimates would have cost a lot more money and resulted in only a portion of the repair work being completed, so Darel actually helped me save money, time and future headaches. 
The project, itself, went smoothly and turned out better than I expected.  We ran into a few snags along the way but each time Darel asked how I wanted to proceed and came up with a solution (some of them very creative) to make everything work into my budget. Darel was able to finish the project in fewer days than what he originally quoted, and slightly below the costs estimated.  Darel provided receipts of all material costs and made the project stress-free and seamless.
 
I am incredibly pleased with Darel's work, and I know he has added years to the life of my fence.  As a side note, I'm very picky and distrustful of most contractors, but Darel is trustworthy and honest.  He is also organized, polite, and personable.   I would wholeheartedly recommend Darel for any and all handyman repairs - he is the only person I will ever use again.

Quick, efficient, and economical repair done correctly.

e fan itself was the Mr. Burleson returned our initial phone call within 24 hours and quickly made an appointment to view the job and provide an estimate. The work was scheduled equally as quickly. He volunteered to pick up the necessary materials we had ordered at the store the morning of the schedule work...very thoughtful. It certainly saved us a trip with a cumbersome load! He was prompt and totally prepared for the job. He worked steadily throughout the day and left us with a new ceiling that looked as if it had been done by a true craftsman. The x8 sheets were grooved. He placed one sheet in the center of the ceiling and cut equal sized pieces to place on either side. He made sure that all of the grooves matched perfectly then calked the seams so that the ceiling would look seamless once painted. Installation of the fan posed problems. Unknown to any of us, the ceiling fan was flawed and did not work. Mr. Burleson checkeed the wiring and tried four times to reinstall the fan. This meant he had to take down the entire casing,the fan and its blades as well as the lighting fixture to check for problems.Eventually we discovered th he made sure job fan had a problem and wouldn't work but it wasn't an electrical issue with the supply wire but the fan itself. He certainly did due diligence to resolve the issue. Mr. Burleson was not going to charge us for putting up the fan because since he was unable to get the fan to work. We insisted that he had done the work he was hired to do and it certainly wasn't his fault the fan was inoperable! When he was finished he cleaned up the area, putting everything back in its place prior to leaving the job. He even offered to return the extra materials to save us from the trip!

My husband and I both found this wonderful craftsman to be prompt, dedicated to producing the best product possible, and true to his word regarding price, time required, and product quality. He offered tips regarding the painting or the ceiling as well as for a few other issues that required our attention. This gentleman contractor is a delightful surprise in a time when it is difficult to find reliable contractors who are on time, reasonable in price, and interested in doing a truly excellent job. We really hate to give this recommendation on Angie's List....once others begin to employ his services, he may get too busy for us!

Darel did excellent work!  We were under  the gun to get it done ASAP to avoid a fine from the city.  He noted the incoming weather and knew it cause problems with the outside painting that needed to be done to complete the job.  I believe that he worked Sat. and maybe even Sunday to get completion before the incoming storms!

Darel was very skilled and efficient in the work he did.  He provided an exact estimate for the repairs and actually came in under the estimate after work was completed.  I completely trust Darel and left my home unattended while he preformed the repair.  I will call on him in the future for work that I need done and have also referred him to my friends for any projects they may need.  In short Darel, is very skilled in home repair and very trustworthy!!!

He is a good friend of mine and he is very, very good. He is one of the few people that I would recommend. He is very honest and tries to save me money. If I want to help do some of the work he will let me do that to bring down the cost. He is pretty fast and he is a real square guy. His prices are very good.

The air conditioning drainage pipe overflowed on the third floor and leaked down into the kitchen, making a mess of the ceiling. Darel was able to repair it fairly quickly and had it textured and painted in about 4 hours. From my original description of the problem he had thought it would be worse and had quoted me a possible one and a half day job and a higher bid.  He was able to get the job done faster and charged me less. This is the second time I have used this company and both times I have been very satisfied with both the work and the price. Darel is very personable and professional. I would definitely hire him again.
