Greeted promptly by Ali, their flooring specialist first asked me a series of questions about pets, lifestyle of the home, etc. Then he steered me to a more lifestyle specific collection with a long wear and stain resistant warranty, also suggesting, because of my pets, an "accident proof" pad made of spill proof memory foam to prevent any spills or pet stains from penetrating to the sub floor.
Ok so far so good! Next, I found two samples I really liked, the cost per sq ft. sounded ok, then I asked about furniture move and replace, labor for stairs, removal methods of old carpet and pad etc...Guess what?. all included! Turn key! The only up charge was a slight difference for the upgraded pad, but with the lack of all the "extra charges" in CMA's pricing allowed me to go with a slightly higher grade of carpet.
OK so then I set up an appointment for measuring. This is another area where I have heard awful stories about wrong measurements, hidden "extras" and lots of left over carpet. Ali arrived on time for our appointment and quickly had a professional sketch of my home with all areas of carpet measured and even showed me where the cut outs from one room would fit perfectly in the closet of another room! I was very impressed and set up the installation for July 16. The installation crew arrived promptly at 9 AM, and finished in one day. Periodically during the day, Bader Obeid, their Managing Director contacted me to see how I everything was going and I was thrilled. The installers did a beautiful job, quickly and neatly folding the old carpet and pad moving it out of the house in small sections to minimize any possible dust... I have bad allergies, but they were so careful even vacuuming as they went. No sneezes at all!
The results are awesome. The crew moved furniture back into place and hauled away all the old stuff. Leaving me with a feeling of relief and a home that looks like new!
Alot of folks write reviews when service is less than satisfactory so I am always careful to make sure that the vendors I use know in advance if I am completely satisfied they will get an honest review and if I am not satisfied I always give them a chance to learn from mistakes and make it right. That said, these guys are so close to perfect, I will definitely use them again.
The wide plank engineered ?hand-scraped? hardwoods we chose for the house we just bought, and their price, were very nice. Bader let us know that baseboards would not be removed and that quarter-round would be added to hide inconsistencies. He told us installation would happen in one day, with the potential for quick touch-ups the following morning. We explained that one-day installation was very important to us and he assured us it wouldn?t be an issue. Great! We called after the weekend to schedule installation for the following Tuesday. We spoke with Bader?s brother this time ? another nice man ? who assured us installation would happen in one day, with the potential for very quick touch ups the next morning. Again, I explained it was very important that the one-day installation happens as we can?t miss any more work than we?ve already missed buying this house.
The evening before our installation, I called to confirm installation. Was told it was still on and that the installers would arrive between 8:30a ? 11a. I reiterated ? again ? that I was told it would happen in a day and he agreed.
11a came and went on the day of installation ? and no installers. I called Carpet Mills and was told the installer was picking up the product. A second later, the installer called to say he was 30 ? 45 minutes away. When he and his companion arrived, he informed me that today would be a prep day and tomorrow they?d install.
Record scratch.
I told him that I was assured that installation would happen in one day ? today - and if he couldn?t guarantee it they could leave and I?d cancel my order. He changed his tune and said he?d get it done.
While he left for over an hour to ?go get the glue,? his companion began prepping the three rooms that were to get hardwoods. Thought he was just ripping out the old carpet and didn?t realize until that evening that he was removing all the baseboards (Just had the entire house, including trim, painted by professionals the previous week). When the main installer arrived with the glue, he asked me which way I wanted the boards to run in the room. I told him parallel with each doorway. An hour later, he asked me to confirm that I said I wanted the boards to run parallel with the doorways. My husband came home from work to relieve me so I could go to work. A couple hours later my husband calls to tell me one of the room?s boards are not running parallel with the doorway. Not the end of the world, but doggonit, why ask me TWICE how I want the boards if you?re not going to listen.
Finally, around 7p, the main installer tells us he needs money to buy new baseboards at Home Depot. We were like, what? You weren?t supposed to remove the baseboards. That we just had painted. That Bader said wouldn't be removed in the first place. He said, too late, many have been destroyed from removal, and what wasn?t destroyed looked "bad." Our point was ? who cares, you weren?t supposed to remove them in the first place. My husband called Bader (or his brother ? not sure) and explained that the baseboards were removed and the installer was asking for $100 upfront to pay for them since he didn?t have any money. Bader/brother said they Carpet Mills "doesn?t do baseboards." And that was it. No help from them. So we sent the installers (now we realize they're just day laborers) on their way without any money for baseboards, and with a DIY baseboard project to tackle over the weekend.
On top of all this, 2 of 3 thresholds have popped up. We called Bader two days later and he said his guys would be out in the morning to glue them down. We requested another crew and he said he couldn't do that. And guess what? They never showed. It?s been 7 days. Not a word back from anyone. Including Bader.
From beginning to end, this was a bad experience. I don't trust these people and neither should you. They'll romance you during the sale, but afterwards - you're on your own with the most unprofessional installers you'll ever work with. Spend your money elsewhere.
