Housecleaning by Julie

I contacted this woman through Craigslist, she operates under the name "Julie"-I had her come out and do an estimate on my home, a full cleaning with bi-weekly service. I should have been concerned when I gave her my address and she got lost, which she proceeded to blame on "my bad direction giving." The woman was surley from the beginning, but I figured maybe that was due to her being so great that she could have an attitude. Julie said it would be $100 to clean everything and would take about 4 hours. She told me the supplies she likes to use, and that I was to go out and get them because she doesn't use her own. Okay-i went to home depot and got the Zep products she liked, and set out the towels, etc, she wanted to use on the day of the first appointment. I was at work and the calls from Julie started around 12 pm., first she couldnt remember where we had agreed to put the key, call 2-she couldnt find the key and had "wait on your porch for 15 minutes," call 3-"oh there's the key-oops," call 4-"where is this and that and the other, why do you have a baby gate up-this gate isnt gonna work for me," call 5-where is your softscrub-i only use softscrub, i cant use clorox with bleach bathroom cleaner it takes too long, your sponges are not the kind i prefer, your mop is the wrong kind, your window cleaner isnt the type i like to use, you have the right kind of floor clearner but i neeed an empty spray bottle bc i like to do it that way, you have the right terrycloth mop but i want the bigger one from home depot-it makes it go faster." I was so frustrated i told her to leave and that i would go and get her special products that she never told me she needed, i had no intention of doing this, i just wanted her out of my house. Julie stated she had "already started celaning the bathroom," I told her she could just charge me for her time and gas and come back another time-she said ok $25 and Ill be back in two weeks. I agreed to leave a check for her, or send her one to which she tried to tell me i could just add on to the next time she came out. I had no intention on doing that either, i was going to send her a check for 25 and tell her never call me or come to my home again. she tried to take the key-i told her no leave it where you got it and i told her i am in a meeting stop calling me and ill call you later. Call 6-i did not answer, Julie leaves message saying she will "do what she can with my products even though they arent the ones she prefers." Call 7-Julie leaves a message to make sure i got her messages. I got home at 5 pm and walked in to my home. The shocking thing is that nothing had been done AT ALL. I was shocked-i went into the kitchen and saw Julie had taken the check, and wiped out one sink, wiped out a bathroom sink, and that is it. NOTHING ELSE WAS DONE. beds werent made, the sink wasnt cleaned on one side, had dried cereal, blankets heaped on couch from the night before, all bedrooms untouched, dust where it was left, floors unswept, windowsills (which are supposedly her speciality) were not wiped, coffee cups from the am left where they were...etc. etc. etc.. My garbage also was overflowing and looked as though the vacuum canister had been dumped all over the floor. I called the woman, who responded that she was there for four hours and that she hadnt realized "how filthy" my home is. She stated when she came the first time she should have looked better, and that she didnt like my products and couldnt clean the way she "usually does." I asked what she did and she said she vacuumed and wiped one side of the sink, she didnt do the other side because "she doesnt do dishes." I told her the house was a mess and for 100 she could have at least made do with my cleaning supplies even though they arent "her preferred." I asked why she hadnt swept and she stated she used the vacccum on the floors bc she doesnt sweep. I told her she should not have taken my check and that she better not cash it, my husband called and said that she better not cash the check-she is stealing if she does. She responded that she was sorry she didnt do what she was supposed to but that she had already cashed the check and "was going to make it up next time." We told her we would be happy to give her the 25 we had agreed on, for her time and gas, but she said "she guesses she cleaned for free and we can put a stop on the check." This lady is a thief. A report has been filed with the police department and Craigslist, I hope no one else gets ripped off by this crazy woman. t meeting.
