I came across this company through American Home Shield a few years ago when I requested a second opinion on my rent house not cooling properly.  The first company (A) had come out and stated that the coil needed cleaning and that it wasn't covered under the AHS warranty so I had them come back and clean it.  The house still did not cool properly and this first company was making a lot more excuses.  When I requested a second opinion and Patriot came out he said 'the coil needs cleaning really badly' - I was shocked as the first company (A) was supposed to have cleaned it the previous week.  Steve, Patriot's owner, was amazed.  He told me that if I hadn't already made payment then to stop payment and that if the first company (A) tried to sue me, then he'd be happy to come to court with me with all the pictures he was taking of the filthy coil. WOW! What an honest, nice guy!!

Steve quit being a contractor for AHS as they encourage the contractors to keep the price of any repair under $200 - as you all know it often costs a lot more than that to repair a furnace or a/c unit.  It a contractor recommends replacement of the unit or repairs over the $200 then they go to the bottom of the list and don't get any calls for quite a while.  Steve believes in doing right by the customer/consumer and could not adhere to AHS's guidelines.

The latest company (B) that AHS sent out to fix my heat pump vandalized it, and I had Steve come out to see what he could do to remedy the situation.  He is a very honest, trust worthy and fairly-priced guy.  Now that Patriot no longer works as contractors for AHS, and due to the fact that the other contractor (B) lied to AHS and has now caused AHS not to authorize the repairs/replacement of my unit, I will be changing to another home warranty company and I'm sure hoping that Patriot will be on their list of approved contractors.    There are a lot of cowboys out there in the heat and a/c business as I know from personal experience dealing with companies A and B, so it's very nice and refreshing to find such honesty and integrity from Patiot

I started having trouble with my AC unit cooling, so I contacted my home warranty company,Old Republic. They sent out one company, which just broke the unit more. So then they contracted with Patriot AC and heat to fix the problem. They came out to see what the issue was and  identified the problem as needing a new control board on the outside unit.  They would have to order the part and it would not come in until Tuesday morning, and they would pick the part up at 9:00 and get it out to us that day. On Tuesday morning, my home warranty company contacted me saying the AC guy was there and that I had missed my appointment. I told them that I did not have a scheduled time set with them but I was only 10 minutes away if I needed to head back to meet with him. They contacted the dispatcher for the AC company and was told that I had a scheduled time of 9:00 - 10:00 and the tech had already left but they would call me to reschedule.           After about 4 hours, I contacted the home warranty company to get the number so I could reach out to them since I had not recieved a call. When I contacted them, I was told it would be Thurtsday before they could come install the part. I have now been without AC for a month and it is August in Texas, with days over 100 degrees with 2 children at home. I told the dispatcher that she had not set a time with me. She responded that she told me they would be there between 10 and 11 in the morning when I spoke with her last week. I told her that this was not the case, that she told me they would get to me on Tuesday after picking up the part. I have no idea where they are coming from or even if I would be the first appointment, so no idea what time they would be out but she did not give me a time frame. She was very rude and told me that Thursday would be the earliest she could get there. I finally gave up and told her that would be fine. After ending the call, I scrolled back thru my calls and the call from the home warranty company was at 9:43 AM, before the time she told me I was scheduled. It is very obvious that she is lying, by giving me one time frame and the home warranty another. If she woulh have been polite, admitted her mistake or even remotely acted like she was interested in helping me, I would give them a second chance. I understand making mistakes, but admitting it and trying to fix the problem would be the way to handle it over lying. I wish the home warranty companies would do more research on reviews of these companies, saving us homeowners the hassel of working with incompetent people.

Our ac compressor stopped working and it's 106 degrees outside! First American homeowner's warranty company sent Patriot. As another reviewer commented, this is a family operation. The son arrived at our home very quickly (perhaps two hours after First American contacted them). He was quick to diagnose and fix the problem (blown capacitor). Some things I especially liked: he checked that the AC is actually working (rather than just assuming the problem was fixed); he didn't mind my son and me looking over his shoulder, and he was willing to explain what he was doing (we were interested); and when we asked him to look at an unrelated problem, he cheerfully did so, and figured out the problem and what needs to be done. This company has mixed reviews on Angie's List and on Yelp. I'm very happy with them and I'll definitely use them again.

They were sent out on a call for home warranty. I was not satisfied with them at all. They totally seemed like they were going to fix it or potentially even replace. They put something to stop the leak and I really wasn?t happy with that. When I tried to call them to find out how much they put in, they wouldn?t tell me. I am not sure I got that information from the warranty company. They didn?t tell the truth. They didn?t completely fix the problem, but it was like a short term solution.

I originally had a good experience with this company. However, the last experience was so bad that I would not recommend them again. This is a family-owned business. The father is quite knowledgeable, the son I am not certain of. I do know the latter removed an air handler (part of heat/AC unit) that shouldn't have been removed unless it was going to be replaced immediately. They then took away my original unit and didn't install the new one. They were incredibly uncooperative about scheduling and basically made it clear they could fix it but my repair wasn't important enough to them to complete that day. They took out a functioning heater, left me with nothing, and had zero remorse about it. I ended up hiring another contractor to put the unit back in. This behavior is just not okay and really cannot be reconciled with my prior good experience. If I were to review them based on the first two visits, I'd give them 5 stars and a POH nomination. If I were to review them based on my experience today, I'd say avoid them like the plague. Wow, usually a contractor is either good or bad. This one has given me wonderful and awful experiences. I guess my grade is "uncertain". If they are like they were the first two times, you'll love them. If not, you'll be crying. Leaving a person without heat in freezing weather for no legitimate reason is really inexcusable.
