 + 4 moreIt was a nightmare! From the very onset, everything that this man did was wrong. The only thing that was accomplished for 35K was the demolition phase. Once that was completed, and the real work began, he demonstrated absolute incompetence. In the first two weeks, he had a crew of 4, then one after another of his workers left, in the end he was alone showing up sporadicly until finally, he just stopped coming. He took my money and kept promising that he would finish. It also cost me more money once he was gone to hire people to come in and redo what he attempted. As a noncarpenter type I did not realize just how bad it was until I hired others to finish what he attempted. Again, not one item that this man attempted was completed correctly. Everything had to be fixed and this was after paying him thousands of dollars. Be forwarned, he comes in with a smooth pitch but do not hire this man, you will be SORRY!
Description of Work: It involved the demoliition of the existing kitchen, creating the layout for new kitchen cabinets and countertop, the remodeling of small bath, removal of carpet in living room, removal of kitchen pantry, installation of braces at the peak of ceiling to compensate for the absence of the pantry, replacement of three exterior sliding glass doors, repair of floor area where previous owners left a hole between floors, installation of antique post to replace others that did not match the interior of the home, removal of intercom system, and drywall repairs of holes left by other electronic devices, texturing and painting of drywall and building two window seats. Once we realizeded that the cabinet company who previously built the existing ones would not add on, Mr. Martinez stated that he once was a supervisor in a cabinet shop and would build the new ones for us. It took him 9 weeks to build 4 lower boxes, and 4 uppers of which, he did not finish the drawers, doors or staining.
