They recommended a re-do of my plumbing because they saw what looked like a very low pressure system. Got a second opinion and it turned out they weren't measuring correctly

Every person I interacted with was great. the crew(s) did a fantastic job. There was a couple of week delay to finish up, but this was no fault of Austex (delays in receiving materials from their supplier) and I was informed at every step of the process. Don't hire Austex Sprinklers. This issue began last fall, but I wanted to wait until the conclusion of my court case. Now that it was decided in my favor, I thought I'd let you know. Last fall, I hired Austex Sprinklers to install a new sprinkler system in my yard. In the process, they severed my cable line and my backyard lighting system. They paid for the lighting system to be repaired; the cable company fixed that line for free. Some weeks later, we found that water was gushing from the sprinkler box area (we live on an incline, so we didn't notice for a while that the water was streaming downhill.). A plumber came out and found that it was the main water line and said it looked like it was cut when the sprinkler system was installed bc the lines are about an inch apart. Austex protested, but paid the plumbing bill. They would not pay the water overage amount, which was substantial even after the city gave us some mitigation credit. (Austex did offer me credit toward future projects, but I had no interest in having them work on anything again.) So the court settled in our favor and that matter was dealt with. In other news, the drip lines Austex put in also don't work properly. I timed them - it took five hours to drip enough water to reach the plants with any efficacy. I am replacing all those lines. In the meantime, the driplines blow apart every time they are turned on. Also, we had another high water bill, so, we had Bluebird Irrigation come out last month to determine why. He told us that the irrigation system was not on a pressure regulator. As a result, the heads were getting 90 psi and they should've been getting more like 45 psi, or even 30 for some heads. So now we will pay approximately $500 to put regulators on every sprinkler head so they work properly. This is also why the soaker hoses blew apart when we turned them on. Just a warning that this company's work for us was horrible and their dealings with us more than unpleasant. CAUSE NO. J2-CV-20-003440. We were awarded $433 plus court costs. So the owner is a liar as well.

The technician was very polite. He arrived early. Now, not a fault of the technician, but the bad zone could not be detected nor located. It is possibly buried underneath the 2ft stone/sand patio, and too deep for the detector. Also we needed all of the values in the yard identified. The technician ID’ed with yard flags 6 of the 8 located/known valves but 2 of the 8 were not identified in the yard. Of course We know 1 of the total 9 zones was assumed buried too deep. The technician decided to replace a solenoid on one of the valves but discovered it was the wrong valve. He didn’t charge me for the solenoid but he didn’t subtract the time it took to remove/replace it. Overall, I know the technician worked hard but I expected better results. He didn’t closeout the service call very well by not cleaning up. He had left behind the bad solenoid on the garage floor and 3 yard flags on top of a tv in the garage, and the control panel door was obstructed by wires he’d left bundled. Pretty minor and petty for me to mention that, but the lack of cleanup weighed a little into the ‘C’ rating.

We used AustexSprinklers in 2016 and was satisfied every time they came to our home. Today we requested service for our irrigation sprinkler system which one of the sprinkler head had busted off. I must say that the response from the time that I requested service to the time of the service tech arrival was excellent. Anna the administrator/ scheduler was professional and courteous s she tried to accommodate our request. The service tech (Gilbert) arrived earlier than the schedule appointment, but he called in advance to let us know that he could come approximately 45 minutes early. Gilbert was very knowledgeable and professional. He answered any questions or concerns that we had. Gilbert also gave some great tips for watering and recommendation for how to best service our sprinklers in the future. I trust and believe in AustexSprinklers and will not use any other company as long as they are in business. We are 100% satisfied with the quality of work we received and will continue to use AustexSprinklers. I strongly recommend to other homeowners in the servicing area of this company to contact them if your sprinkler system needs service. They have a website that includes other services as well....lots of great info.

One zone wasn't working and my fence line had been moved. Needed repair of zone and head adjustment dude a new fence line. Great communication,arrived on time, efficient work, friendly, fair prices, excellent work.

They were unable to make an immediate call. Did come as scheduled and completed the job quickly and efficiently.

They replaced it

Austex service technician (Frank) contacted us that he would be running late and that he had to pickup parts, which we understood. I appreciated that he contacted us about being late. He arrived as I was outside. I informed of some of the issues about the sprinkler system. Frank was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He did a great job and explained what he did.

The technician was on time and found the problem quickly. He did not have the materials he needed to do the repair right then, but made another appointment to get the job done. I am a repeat customer and am very happy with the service and results.

It's the busy season for irrigation companies so it took 2 weeks to schedule the visit; all 3 companies i called quoted me about the same backlog, so I certainly understand.
When the tech arrived (sorry, i can't remember his name), he checked all of the zones and i explained what i needed changed.  He quickly figured out what needed to be done and quoted me around $300.  The other companies i talked to quoted from $600 to $1000!
He started to work right away and the job turned out to be pretty complex and involved.  I gave him the opportunity to raise his price, but he refused; he stuck with his original cost estimate.

Everything is working well and the coverage on the yard is perfect.  Austex has a customer for life!

I phoned for an appointment and was able to get one within 3 days.  On the day of service, the technician Logan, called to let me know what time he expected to arrive.  He arrived as promised and listened as I described the problem.  He explained what he would do and then promptly went to work.  Within a short period of time, he resolved the primary problem (a valve that was stuck open) and identified one leaky sprinkler head.  Before going further, he checked with me to let me know what he had done and what the cost would be to fix the sprinkler head.  I approved the work gladly as I was expecting the cost to be much higher.  He made the repair, explained the 6 month warranty and we were good to go.  I would recommend Austex Sprinklers to my neighbors and friends.  They are local, friendly, affordable with great service by Logan.

My technician, Logan, was very knowledgeable and quick in providing the service.  He answered all of my questions and was both professional & personable.  I would use this company again.

After calling an independent service provider to examine our irrigation system and tell me why there were dead spots on the lawn, I found out that our entire system was improperly installed and lacked a back flow prevention valve (required by Texas, not just Austin, law). That led to a series of calls to irrigation companies for estimates, all of which made my heart stop just a little bit. We ended up with Alex's company based on the in-person demonstration of the materials to be used, as well as an informative discussion of irrigation principles without being accompanied by the hard sell tactics common to service providers. I felt like the flexible-pipe materials used by Austex would better fit Texas clay soils, and the medium-level upgrade with improved sprinkler heads seemed to be the right call for our lawn.
Installation was scheduled for only a few weeks after bid approval, and the installers showed up on time and with appropriate manpower and equipment. They worked all day (7 am to 7 pm) but by the time they were finished we had a new system in place that was miles beyond the old one. The sprinkler heads are better located, there are more of them, and they are more efficient than the old ones. Drip irrigation was installed in the flower bed and street-side strip of grass (required by the city), and appears to be working well. We have a new controller that is much more sophisticated than the old, and much more flexible.
Alex came by the house a week after installation to go over operation of the system in detail, and to confirm that it was working properly. He adjusted a head that wasn't quite right, and had the install crew come back out to re-route a feeder line that was in view. It would have been fine with me to leave as is, but Alex wanted it to look "like his own house" and I admit that after the crew re-buried the line in the new spot it looks better.
I have been waiting for a bit for a response to my inquiry about removing the old irrigation controller and uncoupling the old system from the house water, which might have to do with the summer season busy-ness, but generally the company is very responsive via email and phone.
Sprinkler systems are definitely on the "nice to have" and not the "must have" agenda items for homeowners, and are likely in this drought-intensifying age to become less common. For us, we feel we made the right choice with Austex, and I am sure you'll feel the same if you have them install your system.

I had a couple of problems to start off with.  First, the soil in my vegetable garden does not allow the drip lines to spread water out.  Austex came out and repositioned the lines to get more water to the plants.  Next, I cut a couple of holes in t he drip line while trying to skim rocks off.  Austex came out and repaired the lines.
