The contract was to install new roofing, including valleys, metal edging, roof vents and replace and rotted sheathing.
Upon moving into the home we determined that new gutters were needed. We contracted to have these replaced (by another company). During this process we uncovered several areas of rotted fascia that needed to be replaced and also a section of roofing with rotted sheathing.
We contacted Area Roofing and reviewed the contract of work with the prior owner. After multiple no shows and us constantly calling they finally showed up and replaced the rotted sheathing they had missed on the roof replacement. We also showed them work that was never completed per the original contract (ridge vents not installed). They did install these when it was pointed out that they had not completed the full job with the prior owner.
During this work their local manager indicated that they would compensate us for the fascia repair work we incurred as they had not replaced the metal drip edging as indicated in the contract with the prior owner (they didn't disturb the old existing gutters and didn't replace the drip edge which would have uncovered the fascia problems). We provided receipts and labor charges associated with the required repairs. The area manager then reniged on the previous verbal agreement and declined to compensate to the extent as originally indicated.
We tried repeatedly to contact the company owner outside Austin to drive this to resolution and were constantly put off (various claims of being out of town or having "emergencies" to deal with).
