We have had Sterling maintain our 1998 Subaru Outback for many years. They have been honest and conservative Pretty good on punctuality and very good on keeping me informed.

I went to Sterling Auto Group to have my routine maintance done on my vehicle. It was done quickly and professionally. I would reccomend this place to have your service done. I will be back to get my next maintance done. The employees are knowledgeable and polite. Thanks for the great service.

While out of town, we had to have our timing belt replaced on our car. When we got back in town, though the car was running smoothly, we heard a whine coming from under the engine. As the parts that were replaced were under warranty (a warranty Sterling Automotive supported), we sought service to rectify the issue. Long story short, they pulled apart the engine and part of the front end of the car. They held on to the car for weeks on end without giving us any updates. When I would call, the service department was very rude (even yelling at me and hanging up on me) and not informative, and only one of my messages was returned. The one time I went in to speak face-to-face, the service man was rude and sarcastic to both me and my mother. They wanted us to pay for services we did not receive nor needed on the car. Eventually, we demanded the car back as it was given to them. When they first pulled it out for us, it would not start. When they did get it started, the engine was shaking so violently that it was shaking the car back and forth. We showed this to the head mechanic before we left the lot. He looked under the hood, stated twice that he saw nothing wrong with the engine, turned and walked off from us. Half a mile from the shop, the car died. We had to have it towed home then to a repair shop. It turned out that the first repairmen did not clean out debris from the first broken timing belt. All Sterling had to do to rectify this was remove the debris and replace the timing belt (as it was then ruined) and then time it correctly, all to be covered by warranty. But because the repairmen at Sterling did not know how to work on that engine, they did not know how to get to the belt (which is why they tore the engine up as well as the front end) nor how to time it properly once they got to it (which caused the violent shaking in the engine). We ended up suing to pay for repairs. Two or so years later, we were finally forced to settle out of court because Manuel Gonzalez's lawyer had delayed the process for so long that we could no longer afford our attorney. When we did receive our settlement, a lot of the money had to go to our lawyer. I think we broke even, maybe.

Went fairly well - just wish they had kept in touch better. GEICO representative there is very abrupt on the phone and tends to hang up without warning before you are finished talking.

Was quoted $500 to fix transmission leak and and other the problems. Asked them to explain the cost, they did but $100 was not accounted for. Was told they would call me back with an explanation, two days my car sat there without an explanation. Called them to tell them I was taking my car elsewhere, was told that my fiance was stupid and that he ok'ed a $90 charge which was "mandatory to look at the car." I took the car elsewhere and later found out that my fiance never ok'ed the charge and that the man lied to me about a "mandatory charge." I called the company to complain about being lied to and found out the apparently the company does not charge to look at the car.
