Dry Cleaning Service
I have gone here for several years and in the last year or so have noticed the clothes have a strong smell after dry cleaning. I try to air them out before taking them inside because I've read that the solvents used can cause cancer, especially the stronger-smelling ones.
I have had problems here with sweaters that are cashmere coming back with holes. I suppose their machines are too rough on the delicate fabric. They have always repaired them for me, but it happens so often that I have decided not to take cashmere here anymore.
Also, I had bought a beautiful, vibrant red 100% silk blouse which cost me more than I usually spend on clothes. After the first time taking it to Bryan CS Cleaners, it had a horrible film on it. I had them re-rinse it (or whatever they do), but the film was still there. I was heartbroken. Luckily, I took it to Villa Maria Cleaners and the film came off. I notice at Bryan CS Cleaners they have a sign that says they are not responsible for silks, along with some other fabrics.
Verdict: Do not take silks, cashmere, or other delicate clothing here. Spend a little more somewhere else. Heavier fabrics, such as suits, are okay, if you air them out before wearing. If you have, had, or think you might be prone to cancer, I would suggest staying away from dry cleaning here, but definitely air your clothes out before wearing if you do. This might be a good place if you just have jeans and shirts to be laundered and starched, but I haven't used them for that yet. The only reason I return is because the prices are just so reasonable.
