I called Lonestar Gates and Fences because I saw their ratings on Angie's List. I called them in mid-May. Scheduling a time for an estimate was a little bit of challenge at first because of my roller coaster work hours. David accommodated me in coming to my house after a day of work for him. I told him what I needed and why I needed the new fence. He suggested that instead of running it straight across the property line, to line it on each side of the driveway and have a terminal meet the old driveway gate on the south side and open up the fence line a little more on the north side then bring it parallel to the fence on the other side bordering the driveway with a single wide gate on the south side leading into the front yard.. He said that way I would have more room and not be so close to the road when I drove up to the gate. I liked that idea. I asked him about taking the other fence down and discarding it for me and he said yes they would do that. David called one of the places about the underground lines to get them to come out and mark their lines.
It was a busy time for him and he had three jobs before me. I understood and told him that would be fine. Then since this May was the rainiest May in Texas history he was delayed further. The business called me once during that time; I mentioned that I thought they had dropped me, but Amy said the weather had really impeded their progress and apologized for such a delay. I thanked her for calling and mentioned that I wanted a double gate instead of a single gate leading into the yard. She said she'd tell David and then write up another contract for me. David called me shortly after that to confirm my request and answered my question that it would add another $50.00 to the former price.
They came out the 26th of May and set the posts. Then we had rainstorms the next day so they returned the 28th and put the fencing in. Because they weren't sure about a lantana bush I had, they hesitated about a post because I was gone to work and couldn't be reached. So they waited to ask me about it before they dug it up and put the post in. I think if I recall correctly that made them have to use a little bit of another day to finish that section up.
All in all the fence was completed and it looks very nice. It also solved a little problem I was concerned about of the easement and driveway area being too much of a temptation for neighborhood children to come jetting across a BUSY street on their bicycles to fly down, up and around over and over again.
The Owner responded quickly to our email requesting a quote for the gate that we wanted and was about $600.00 less than some of his competitors. Very polite, very professional and we are extremely pleased with the gate that was built and installed for us. We have Chihuahuas that we are trying to keep in the yard and he even came back and put a bar on the bottom of the gate so that the Chihuahuas couldn't escape. We are very pleased and would be glad to recommend Lone Star to consumers!
