From the beginning, it was a nightmare. The owner and his company's website said he has " 6 fulltime employees and 10 partime seasonalworkers" and, if that's true, we never saw them. There were never more than three people on site, and the "crew" changed all the time. It appeared the owner had no little- to no idea what he was doing and was in way over his head, and the crew was in a state of confusion or did no work at all because of lack of direction or misdirection or materials. Although we had given the owner a 50% deposit, which is required upon signing a proposal, never once did he or his crew show up on site with enough materials for even a day's work. Additionally, we had to stop them in the midst of deck construction to point out major structural issues. Our concern about the construction quality was met with great displeasure from the owner, who seemed angry and agitated much of the time. The work had only been underway for less than two weeks - with very little progress - when the owner walked off the job. We found out that he's done this before (as another Angie's List testifies).  I strongly urge anyone who seeks any work to be performed by any contractor to not only turn to Angie's List - which is an invaluable resource - but also do a search in their county's public records database and check out the person's civil and criminal background. It can be very enlightening. We found out too late, so use our experience as a cautionary tale.

We had to argue for what we wanted, although he did consent to our requests. Quality of work was poor in some areas. Knows little about the culture of plants - planted plants that will grow too big for area; sun plants in shade. Left the job without having completed it. Did not contact us or respond to our calls. He actually owes us some money for the work left undone. He consistently underbid the jobs, which caused problems for him and for us. He is congenial; I will hand him that. Seems to be a caring person. We cannot forgive his walking off the job without calling us, however.
