Jeff and his team have restored my faith in contr! The job went according to plan with a few minor, rain-induced delays. They were quiet and as clean as remodeling will allow. They came and went during normal business hours so we’re gone by the time we returned from work. It was just a really good experience.

We have used Sandera Custom Homes and Remodeling a couple of years ago for another remodeling project. We hired them again to take our interior designer's plans to give our fireplace a facelift. Jeff Sandera managed the project and the subcontractors who completed various elements of the project. They did the demolition of the existing fireplace leaving the firebox intact. They prepared the wall, squared it up for the tile guy, and then installed a new fireplace mantel which was made from reclaimed wood. It was very heavy and they did a great job of cutting it to size and securing it to the wall. The tile subcontractors had 15+ years of experience laying tile. They were meticulous in laying the stone stacked tile and they even built a raised hearth. There was a couple of days delay due to a shortage of tile but Jeff was able to order what was needed to finish the job. The tile guys also sealed the stacked stone and applied an enhancing sealer on the hearth. Due to the porous nature of the hearth tiles, they came back 2 times to add additional coats of sealant. Once the tile was completed, Jeff sent a painter who perfectly matched the mahogany stain where the mantel was cut to size. He also repaired the dry wall from the demo and matched and painted the entire wall, baseboards, crown molding and window frames. They went the extra mile. The job transformed the central focus of our room.

We found Sandera Custom Homes and Remodeling through a colleague. Jeff Sandera was our primary contact and worked very closely with us every step of the way. He was very professional, courteous and answered all of our questions. The job was initially going to take less than one week. However, it ended up taking 3 weeks due to a number of unexpected delays including scheduling of plumber's availability, unexpected trip for a funeral, and the pace of the crew. There were some issues with the primary crew member who did all of the tiling. He was very meticulous and detailed in his work. He has over 30 years of experience in tiling. He gave us some great recommendations for the tile layout which took more time for cutting the tiles. It took him approximately 7 days (part-time) to do all of the tiling and grouting. During the course of the experience, the crew doing the work did not have all of their tools or supplies and would ask us if we had tools (e.g. saw, screwdriver, pliers, ladder, anchors/screws, etc). Sometimes, they were not fully prepared to do their task. The last day the crew member's drill was not charged and he had to go to Home Depot to purchase an electric drill to finish the job. They ultimately did what they needed to do to get the job done and that every detail was covered.
