Hill Country Fireplaces

I spent several thousand dollars having two fireplaces installed by Hill Country Fireplace in Boerne, Texas. I realized that we don’t have a damper on the outside fireplace, so I called to ask if this was supposed to have been installed, because the heat can’t be felt since it goes straight up the chimney. The owner got really smart with me, telling me it was a stupid question. Do we want to smell the fumes? I told him I didn’t appreciate the tone, and he called me a “da*** *** mother f*****.” I confirmed he was the owner. How is that for service? I wonder if they’ll still honor my warranty?

I went very well. The techs arrived and went straight to work. They were clean in their work, focused on the task at hand, and obviously knew what they were doing. No wasted time and no wasted motion. They actually had a replacement part for the fireplace on the truck so I didn't have to pay for a second service call for installation. It was a painless experience

Another repair company had come out and tried to get me to pay $430 for a new pilot assembly, in addition to $159 for a service call. I refused to do that. I called Robert at Hill Country Fireplaces. He assessed the condition of the fireplace and then simply cleaned out the pilot line, and now the fireplace works perfectly. He charged me only for a service call. Robert and his son were very courteous and have high integrity. Whenever we need fireplace servicing or maintenance again, I will definitely be calling them back. I highly recommend Hill Country Fireplaces.

I could not more highly recommend this company to the Angie's List community.  Robert was on time, professional, and under budget.  The install was quick and my fireplace looks AMAZING.  With cooler weather coming soon (hopefully) - this company is a safe bet.  If you're on the fence - just pick up the phone and give this guy a call.   Now where is that wine, crackers and cheese.....I want to snuggle up with my lady in front of this beautiful fire.....

We couldn't be happier! They are knowledgeable, courteous, and quick to respond. We realize how having professionals handle this made our result much more pleasing than if we had bought some cheaper (and cheaper looking) logs from a big-box store and tried to do it ourselves.

I am new to gas fireplaces so it was very important that I find a vendor who not only sold gas log kits but installed them as well. I contacted Hill Country Fireplace; Robert (the owner) was able to answer all of my questions over the phone. He then suggested I call his wife (Deborah) and setup an appointment to visit their showroom in Bourne TX. Thankfully, I did not have to make a trip to Borne, because Deborah emailed me pictures of potential gas log sets and I emailed her my fireplace dimensions. A couple emails later, she ordered the perfect gas logs kit.

The next challenge was scheduling an installation date around my difficult work schedule. They were very flexible and accommodating, Robert and Deborah work very well as a team. I met Robert when he came to install the gas logs. He was prompt, friendly yet professional, informative and fast. When the installation was completed, he cleaned what little mess he made then walked me through lighting the gas fireplace. I think he noticed some trepidation on my part because he encouraged me to call him when I decide to use the fireplace for the first time and he would walk me through it, again.

Luckily, I have had numerous opportunities to use my fireplace and equally or more compliments on how real it looks, not to mention questions on how it works etc. and because Robert shared his knowledge I am able to do the same.

Robert came out and put out a remote control fireplace for my mother. She lives alone and he got that installed in about an hour and a half. She had the gas logs, but he just had to do the connection. He was reasonable priced too. He is A+ and I wished Angie's List would let me give him an A+. He is also available at a phone call. He tries to save you on expensive and he is able to walk you through the experience.

I called the number provided on Angies list and talked to someone who verified information about the fireplace. He made sure that it was the kind that they are able to service. I sent an e-mail with a picture of it, my coordinates and availability. Robert called ahead before leaving his shop to confirm our appoint,ent and showed up on time. He covered the area of work to protect the cleanliness of the fireplace area. He inspected the fireplace and installed a damper stopper. The damper stopper is a safety element that keeps the chimney from shutting tight. He also added lava rock. He then fired up the fireplace while providing instructions to that effect. I paid cash and he provided an accurate service sheet.
