Of the four companies I contacted, two responded immediately. Both came out and gave estimates. I chose Nextdoor and never looked back. Would call them again in a heartbeat.

I recently had JJ from Next Door painting provide a quote for painting the exterior of our home and doing some minor trim repair. Although I ended up selecting another contractor due to a positive review from a coworker (which was basically a tiebreaker), I wanted to post a review about the bid process. JJ was prompt for our appointment (and you know how rare that is in the Houston area!), and took the time to listen to what work I needed to have done before offering his advice and then providing a competitive and detailed quote. I will certainly contact JJ and Next Door painting again should I have another painting project.

My house was in rough shape, it is an older bungalow home in Bellaire. It needed some attention. Justin Treaster came out and give me a quote and he was able to get me on the schedule right away. They were able to get the mold and mildew off, replace any rotting wood and repaint the house white and trim green. She shines bright now. Justin and his crew did a great job!

I am finally calm enough to write a review about my experience. It was unpleasant and unfortunate. Let me start off by saying I try to stick around as much as possible when I have people working in my home, regardless of how highly they come recommended. But sometimes, you have to pick up a child, or drop them off or what have you. Unfortunately- my leaving the house allowed for someone to take advantage of us. Things started off fine and the two men (the subs) were pleasant and polite. On day 2, one of them 'called in sick' which I thought was a little odd, but I let it go. Then I came home (on day 2) and my house was locked and empty. I had not given anyone a key. No one had called to ask me if they could leave or when I would be home, etc. The contractor took it upon himself to find a key in a drawer by our front door (my mistake of course- I meant to remove it and forgot when they started work- we no longer leave a key there now!). He let himself out to go get more supplies. I was horrified. Had I GIVEN him the key it would be a different story. But to find a key and use it without permission.... unprofessional and unacceptable. I began to feel uneasy. On day 4, I notice in the evening there is white powder/dust on several of dresses (black evening dresses so the white dust really stood out!) in my closet, a few shirts, and in a drawer (also in the closet). I find it odd, considering, I have stayed out of the area they are working in as much as possible, and decide to take a few pictures. My gut is telling me something is wrong. The next morning I am leaving to deliver pizza to my daughter's party at school and I decide to go back in the house. The lead contractor had left at this point, for more supplies, and the younger one was working. As I enter our house and walk down the hallway, he is exiting my bedroom and I hear him drop/toss something. I begin asking him questions and he pretends he doesn't understand English. I speak in Spanish and he tells me he was using the bathroom. I tell him absolutely not. He should use the hall bath. Then he says he needs trash bags. He was flustered and obviously lying. I give him trash bags from the kitchen. I repeat (in Eng and Span) not to enter our bedroom. I call the foreman and explain to him that the other contractor, and he, need to be at my house immediately. I go in the bedroom and see 2 of my husband's baseball hats on the ground by the door (what he had planned to steal). I am furious. I have to leave to drop food off so I barricade our door. I check our alarm system log as soon as I leave and guess where this lowlife goes.... right back down the hallway to our bedroom. I race back home and explain to the foreman what is going on. My husband comes home (during a work day mind you). At this point, I don't know what has been taken over the last few days- but I now know the dust I found in my closet the day before was not from me. He had been rifling through our things. He was asked to leave and not return. I realized one of my grandmother's necklaces (costume jewelry but sentimental nonetheless) has been stolen. But that was all I noticed at the time. He denies it. In the end, the foreman offered to re-key our house (due to the use of our key without permission and now this) but that was it. I believe when he brought the final bill he asks if I am satisfied. Well, let's see. Sure, the ceilings looks great but you can't give me back the sense of security that has now been taken away. There was no adjustment to my final invoice. I read such great reviews when researching companies. I wish I could have left a positive review. According to the foreman, they would not be working with that sub anymore.... but regardless this was not a pleasant experience.

Would highly recommend this company. Very easy to work with, completed the job on time, work performed was excellent.

I went with another company because of personal connections, but this is the company I would use if not for that. JJ was extremely professional and informative. His prices are competitive, and he runs experienced crews. He was also very willing to customize my project for mymneeds. I would highly recommend this company and this young man as he is out to do what it takes to get and keep your business.

After moving into our new home, we hired Next Door Painting to complete our interior painting including the living room, foyer, office, dining, room, hallways, and upstairs. We have 30 ft ceilings with a lot of detailed areas and wanted to be sure the job was done right. The entire experience from start to finish was flawless. Justin Treaster promptly gave us our estimate and talked us through the entire process including selection of paint, confirmation of insurance, and reviews of previous projects. The crew showed up a week later, as we requested, and they were phenomenal. Alex and Omar worked non-stop and completed our entire project in just 2 days! Both were so polite, professional, and detail oriented. Daniel Smith was our project manager and he checked in on the progress and came back at the completion of the project to ensure we were satisfied. Next Door Painting exceeded our expectations and I have to say I was a little sad to see them go. We will continue to use Next Door Painting without reservation for any and all painting needs we have in the future. Thank you for making our home so beautiful!

Hired them to fix the work of another company that did a terrible job. Got a quote and they started work the next week. Kept the job site impecibaly clean, worked quickly, and did a great job at both replacing trim/siding and the painting itself. Friendly crew and manager. Would definitely hire again.

Meticulous. That's how I'd describe this work. It took a few days to complete, but the drywall repair was perfect, the floors/stairs/furniture was all kept clean. The effort spent on detail work was really great. These guys actually take the time to care about a great job.

We couldn't have been happier with the job. Everything was painted and left in order before our expected completion date. Daniel Smith did a fantastic job overseeing the job and making sure it was done well. We would surely recommend the services of this company and of Daniel Smith.

Probably one of the worst experiences of my life with a hired contractor. the work they did was very spotty and the supervisor was never around, I had to become supervisor to a 2 man team that could not even speak English. I complained several times of the work and the absence of company supervisor support to no avail. Not only were they weeks late in starting, when they did it became a burden on me as I had to follow their every move due to lack of company support, or I would had paid alot of money for a very unprofessional job. I feel like they should have paid me for supervising the job. I would never recommend this company to anyone and would warn those seeking a professional service to look elsewhere.

We had engaged another company which bailed out the day before painting was to start. We were under time pressure. Scott and his team were able to start the day after he gave the estimate, so we were only one day behind schedule. The interior of our 3,800 sf house was painted, as well as the garage, in four and a half days. Very good, clean, quality job. So satisfied that we will engage again for an outside painting project in the spring. Fair price and very satisfactory work. Highly recommended.
