About us

Wayne Epps founded Epps Body & Paint in 1988 and grew it into a well-respected Bee Cave business. Over the years, Wayne regularly took his customer’s cars to Lawson Tire & Automotive on Hwy 290 for the final front-end alignment after the body work was finished. In 2005, Melissa and Steve Takamatsu bought Lawson Automotive and continued to work with Wayne. In 2011, Wayne decided to sell his shop due to health issues. Although he received many offers from large collision consolidators, he preferred to sell to a family and keep Epps local. Therefore, he asked Steve and Melissa Takamatsu to buy Epps. So, Melissa agreed to manage the body repair at Epps while Steve manages the mechanical repairs at Lawson.

Being in an accident is stressful enough, having EPPS deal with insurance and handle everything for me was a real blessing. They were prompt, professional and my car looked brand new.

They were great. They're awesome. It was fantastic work. They even did extra stuff for free. They did not charge me for it. They were local, friendly and extremely helpful and extremely reasonable for what they did. They went above and beyond to help me get fixed in a timely manner. Pricing was great. I would go back. They're super cool.

Other body shops were quoting outrageous prices on replacing and fixing the bumper (lower fascia). The nice folks at EPPS told us that we didn't need a new bumper (lower fascia). All we needed was for the lower fascia to be re-attached. They said it was a common problem for cars that have low hanging front fascias, an an inexpensive fix. We brought it in late one evening, and picked it up first thing the next morning. These guys are fantastic. Price was way below anyone else's quote, and done early the next day. I didn't even need a rent car. EPPS saved me money and time...I highly recommend them to all my family and friends in Austin. If Angie's List had a star system to rate companies, I would give them 5 stars *****

I got several quotes on thei work. Epps was by far the least expensive. As I stated above we were very happy with the attitude and service of the staff and owner. Thanks for a great job at a reasonable price.

I dropped by and received a printed estimate in ten minutes. The estimate was $150 less than I received from another shop a year ago. I was told it could cost $100-200 more if another part was needed, but he--I assume it was Mr. Epps--wouldn't know until the bumper was taken off. I agreed to the work, he called and ordered the parts while I was there, and I was told to bring it back in two days and they would fix it in one day. And that's what happened. I dropped my car off at 8 a.m. and picked it up at 4 p.m. The bumper and paint looked like it did before I was rear ended. The extra part wasn't needed and I paid the original estimate price. This was a great experience--firm and fair estimate, service delivered as promised. I didn't go through my insurance company but it was clear they routinely work with insurance adjusters if that's what you need.

I went to Epps because a neighbor recommended them. I pulled in without an appointment and they looked at the bumper on my new Chev. Silvarado. It was pushed up against the truck and the tailgate would not open or close. Mr. Epps called a worker out of the garage and they removed the rubber covering and with lots of pulling and pounding with a rubber hammer and blocks of wood and shear force and strength got the bumper back into place and replaced the rubber. It took 20-30 minutes. When I got my purse and asked the charge, they said "We're glad to help, it was nothing, no charge." I was so pleasantly surprised. I went and got the crew a pizza and drinks for lunch as a thank you. Mr. Epps said "You should not have but thanks so much, nice thing to do". I would use this company again and recommend.

They were really professional and very polite. They were also very easy to work with. They are local. I have used them for about twelve years. I would highly recommend them.
