My business has two employees, with over 60 years experience. I do sub-contract on certain jobs, all the refinishing is done by my business. I do require half down of the total amount agreed upon. I take both cash and cheques.

James Brennand picked up a Black Lacquer dining table and 3 chairs to repair and touch up paint. The table is Asian design with shell Geisha Girls. I paid him 400.00 at the time of pick-up, which was April 2013. I was to pay him the balance owed of 400.00 in 3-4 months upon completion. I have e-mailed him and called several times. I still have no furniture??? Dec 12/2014 I am adding an update to my review as I recently received the furniture back. It did take over a year to get it, but the work was Excellent. I did think he might have offered a slight discount considering time it took him, but he did not. Overall James did an outstanding job on repairs and refinishing. I understand that Black Laquer is hard to match.

"I do apologize for my disappointing performance, with your furniture. 3-4 months was the estimated work time, and has turned into over a year. I have tried to explain the problems I have had. Past the 6 month mark, there have been occasions where I wanted to give in, and take it all back. But no, I made a commitment. I have made all the alterations asked for, the problems began when repainting. I did take some off time off from this furniture, to deal with other furniture with my business. I am still refinishing the furniture, and I hope the customer can continue to have patience."

Cane back section on the cane back dining room chair was replaced and stained to match the other chairs.The stain was slightly darker, but not really noticeable unless you were really looking for it. Very happy to have my chair repaired.

Mr. Brennand did an excellent job matching the contour and stain of the top rail to the rest of the chair. My oak chair has been restored not only functionally but also beautifully.

I purchased a Big Deal for $500 of service for $250. He came and flawlessly repaired 4 places on the legs and skirt of my ornate oak pool table where it had been chewed by puppies. It is perfect. He had to crawl around on the floor to do it since the table is too heavy to move. I sent 4 antique chairs with him with a variety of rather severe problems for him to repair in his shop. I can't wait to see how wonderful they will look. He is quite booked and the work takes time so I expect the chairs in late January.

Mr. Brennand came to our home to view the furniture and give us an estimate. The repairs were done at his home where he has set up a workshop in his garage. We are well pleased with response time and with the completed work. Our bedpost and chair are good as new. Mr. Brennand kept us informed of the progress of the job via email that included photos. We will definitely call him for future repair and refinishing jobs.

The leg on one of my dining room chairs was completely broken off during my recent move from California to Dallas. James (the owner of JEB) responded promptly to my inquiry at Angie's List. He asked for photos (which I sent in a text message), gave an estimate, picked up the chair, gave a date for completion, and delivered the chair as promised. He even sent photos of the work in progress.
It (and the leg) look WONDERFUL! One would never suspect that it had been completely broken off the chair. I couldn't have asked for better service. Responsive, professional, and very, very skilled.
I will definitely use him again!!!

He came and picked up an office desk that I've had for over 40 years that my mother had given to me. It's really not an expensive piece of furniture, but I've had it for a long time. He did an excellent job on it. They fixed the henge on it and tightened it up. He was very polite and on time. He did an excellent job and I'm glad I searched Angie's List to find him on here.

3/7/2011He came a couple of days after I called to our mutual agreement. He finished the project on agreed time. Before taking the headboard and rocker, he carefully understood what I wanted and let me know what could not be done, then offered alternative suggestions.

The furniture damage occurred during our move to Fort Worth. James picked up and delivered the furniture to our house. He performed the repairs in the time frame he initially stated. He was very pleasant to work with. There were some gaps in communication between him and the moving company in regards to who was paying the down payment and the final payment. I ended up paying and getting reimbursed rather than the moving company paying him directly. The cost may have been a little on the high side but we are very pleased with the end result and have asked him to do additional work on antique pieces.

Jim was on time for all of the appointments. He had the appropriate transportation and packing materials. He delivered the items on schedule, and I have been extremely delighted with his work. There was no small talk- just the way I like it. The conversation sticks to the topic of the job. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable.

I am extremely pleased with the work that Jim did. Both the table and the buffet turned out beautiful. They are both very old and required a lot of experience and a creative mind to refinish and repair them. It was so comforting to have someone who knew so much about refinishing and repairing really nice furniture working on my treasured pieces. And here is the most amazing part of my story - One side of my buffet was locked and I didn't have a key. It was locked when I bought it years ago and for years I had been trying to find someone who could find a way to unlock it. Jim found a way and now that side of the buffet can be used !!!
