The first time Romero painted the doors they were still on the cabinets. He did do a great job of taping off all the new hinges and drawer pulls so they would still look good and function properly. He also masked off the ceiling, floors, appliances, etc. so that they would not get any overspray on them. However, the paint job had numerous sags, drips, and runs. Every door and cabinet had at least one problem. Romero came back and sanded down the cabinet and doors, and sprayed them all a second time, with approximately the same result. Mr. Bradford said that the paint was the problem, so he purchased a different paint, and sprayed them again. They still had runs and drags on about half of the doors. At that point, Mr. Bradford and Romero removed the doors that had major sags and drips and took them to their shop to sand them again and spray them there for a fourth time. Meanwhile, Romero sanded the cabinet stiles and repainted them again with a roller. Mr. Bradford said the paint company told him that as the paint dried it would spread out flat and you would never know it was rolled. In the morning, the paint still looked rolled, and did not flatten out as he had stated. Now that my cabinet doors and drawers had four coats of paint, and we had been living with plastic draped everywhere for two weeks, I had finally reached the end of my rope. The doors were finally returned, and the paint job is adequate, not the beautiful new cabinet doors I was hoping for. The cabinets themselves, and stiles will have to be repainted again, by myself or another painter. While removing the plastic drapes which were attached with masking tape, not blue tape, the ceiling texture and paint was damaged. Also, several areas on the kitchen and hall walls had overspray. Therefore, I also have to retexture and repaint parts of my ceilings and walls. In the hall, they left some plastic and tape on the walls, and some tape on hinges, so we had to also clean that up ourselves. Mr. Bradford took ten percent off the price for all the trouble I had been through. I frankly did not feel that was a fair price, considering I only got about half of what I contracted for, but I was ready to be done with the whole experience. The value I can gain from this experience is to get references, ask to see other jobs that he has already completed, and to hire a painter to paint, not a contractor. I am capable of doing my own contracting. I trusted the cabinet company when they recommended this person and should have done more research on my own.
Description of Work: I hired Daniel Bradford to paint all my brand new cabinet doors and drawers that had just be installed on Feb. 29, 2012. He assured me that he was very detail-oriented and the cabinets would look fantastic. He said it would take 4 to 5 days from prep to final clean-up.
