Worst new car purchasing experience in over 51 years:
I was in a traffic accident which totaled my car. After a nice, young, recently employed salesman assisted my husband and I in building the 2015 Cadillac SRX to our specifications, locating one for us, provided a test drive, gave us a great price, we signed the sales agreement.
Our one request was to expedite the procurement of permanent license plates. We have an upcoming trip on Feb 27, up North to the snow and ice and we felt the paper dealer license may not survive. When the salesman made the request, his SALES MANAGER stated it was not possible. We asked the salesman to request that they make an extra effort. We had NEVER had a dealer refuse this simple request.
The sales manager came out and stated. Everyone in the state of Texas waits 2 weeks to get their license plates and registration. We know this is not true. He should have said "It is our company policy that everyone who buys a vehicle from Classic must wait for 2 weeks to assure their check or financing is good, then they receive teceive their plates and registration.
Many times on new car purchases we have received these in less than a week. When we questioned this statement, he said it was company policy?none for two weeks. When we asked to reconsider or make and exception, he then said ?We don?t want to sell you a car.? At that, I asked for the papers we had signed be returned for me to tear up or that he destroy them in our presence. He refused to do so, so I, upset, got up and left. My husband stayed behind and told them to forget about the plates, we'd go thru with the purchase, but the sales manager refused again stating Classic would not sell him a car.. So then we left.
If this is truly their company policy, they treat their customers like criminals, untrustworthy and unappreciated. They do not care if they sell a vehicle or not. I told my husband that everything happens for a reason, I felt we were offended, I lost my composure, however all is well.
We went to another dealer the next day. Purchased a vehicle (that we really like better). Made the same request and were told ?We will do the best we can to expedite this. It should not be a problem. End of story.
