They never finished the work on the front door, and never applied a second coat of paint. I came home at 6 a.m. and they were inside my house working and I asked to be notified every time they needed to come in beforehand. Where they installed the tile in the bathroom they did not put a transistion piece to the hallway.

They were beyond excellent. I just can’t say enough good things about them. I would never know that that door had never been there. My house is almost 100 years’ old and the trim work and baseboards around the door were original to the house. They even matched that. They went to their cabinet shop and matched the baseboards and the door trim for me. It looks like it has always been here. I didn’t even ask them to do that. I am hoping to use them in the future for the kitchen.

They tore up the base cabinets in the kitchen removing the old countertop, so we had to add new base cabinets. Then they didn't figure the new cooktop dimensions correctly so they had to tear up the new base cabinets to install the new cooktop. They used the wrong spacers installing the tile floors and grouted before we got home,so when I questioned the spacing, they gave me an invalid reason for using the big spacers (said there were nubs on the tile edges preventing them from laying them closer...extra tiles left behind are smooth as can be. Areas in the grout bubbled and broke, so I live with holes showing right in the middle of doorways to be seen by all. Did not finish casing an opening. Ordered the front door so it opened the wrong way, instead of returning it and getting the correct one, they attempted to modify installation...door has had to be repaired 3 times since they left the job, now we've discovered they used the wrong kind of screws to attach to facing, so that will be another repair cost. The carpets they installed wrinkeled within a year of installation. There is more, but to cut this horror story short, they walked off the job the end of June 2005, leaving power tools and ladders and other stuff. Mr. Carter refused to accept phone calls and while we held out the cost of the Pella designer door from the final payment, his wife (business manager) hounded us for months for payment. We reported to the BBB after Hurricane Rita and they wanted to mediate, but we said we just wanted the job finished correctly and Mr. Carter would not set up an appointment.
