The serviceman acted as if he didn't want to do anything.  Looked at the unit and said there was a leak and we needed a new unit and there was really nothing he could do except put freon in.   We told him to get us a price on a new unit - he said it would probably cost about $3,000 - $4.000 for a new unit but that he had to get in touch with somebody in his office to check on it and they would call us back.  A week passed and we didn't hear anything.  I called.  They said they would get back with us.  Never have heard back from them to this day.  Had another serviceman come out and check the unit out because it kept freezing up and we needed it fixed.  He fixed the unit with a $15.00 part.  We did not have to have a new unit afterall.  If we had listened to Air Comfort and they had called back, we probably would have gotten a new unit when we didn't need one.  Not impressed with Air Comfort at all.

My upstairs air conditioning stopped working.  A technician came out within an hour or so and diagnosed a problem and replaced a part that was clearly failing.  However, that was not the problem causing the air conditioning to stop working.  It would work for a period while the technician was there and then a short time later, cut out again.  They came back the next day, after hours, and after examination, thought it was a switch that was over heating and causing the problem.  They didn't have the replacement switch, but by-passed it for the next day or so, so that we could have air conditioning in our bed rooms.  Turns out, it wasn't the switch either, as this worked for a while and then went out again.  They finally diagnosed the problem as a compressor motor. They replaced it, and it has been working wonderfully ever since.  While there, they cleaned the grass form the grills and did everything they could to solve the problem.  It was a difficult problem to diagnose as once the motor shut down, it would cool off and work for a while, then quite again.  So whatever they did, gave the motor the chance to cool down. I was impressed with their ethic to get there and solve the problem.  They did excellent work for me.

In Sept. 2007 as a result of Hurricane Humberto I had to replace my interior AC unit. I worked in the housing industry and based on their reputation I hired Air Comfort to perform the work. I did not know that they were not licensed or bonded. The next summer I had a problem with the unit. Since it was still under warranty, I called Air Comfort. They came to my home and completed the repairs. Then they charged me over $200.00. I did not pay the bill, because the unit was only a year old and was still under warranty. Summer 2009: the unit began leaking. The leakage was minimal so they were not called. Now we are in2010. Air Comfort sued me for the bill in Small Claims Court. In April the unit began leaking seriously. I called and questioned this. I was told that I would receive a call back. I never got a call back, but did receive another copy of the bill. The unit is freezing and leaking very badly. As a result of the leak the carpet in the adjoining bedroom is ruined. The heat works fine. The air, however, has not worked properly since I have had the unit. It isn't even officially summer yet and already the temperature in the house runs from about 76 to 84 degrees. I don't know if the unit isn't right for my home or if it is simply a faulty unit. What I do know though, is the unit simply doesn't work properly.

The installers were courteous and worked hard. It should have been completed in one day but took additional time on the next day due to the Tech's not being familiar with the thermostat wiring requirements. The air handler I purchased had a variable speed blower but it was set up wrong and did not alter its speed. Calls to the dealer on this matter were always answered but my questions were not. The Salesman and Manager were contacted numerous times concerning this issue and I was always promised that they would get back to me. There were no call backs from them and this went on for close to 6 months. I had essentially given up. Then one day a Tech called me to schedule to come out. My hopes soared that someone was finally going to check my problem out. Turns out he was there to provide a free biannual service contract obligation that was provided as part of the sale. When offered to renew this service contract for another year it was an emphatic NO. I figure if they can't start it up right or at least return to get it right I had no use for them. I have gone to another dealer for my needs. Several other problems with the initial installation have since shown up. They include a drain pan cracked during instal which I feel like was at least partially responsible for a small amount of water damage on my hall ceiling, short cycling of the AC unit, air flow settings set to low in the heating mode, air flows set to high in the Air Conditioning mode, and sub code installation of the gas supply piping. At present My new Heating and AC repair company that I am using has addressed most of these issues. They have ordered parts and are addressing all of the other issues with the exception of the gas piping at no cost to me. I voluntarily obligated myself to make the necessary changes to the gas piping. I could not ask more from them and they did not even benefit from the initial sale. I will be posting a good report on them here on angieslist.com in the near future.
