Do NOT use this company and steer clear of any ?Magic Garage
Door Repair? company in TX that is under the name Magic Garage Door Repair or
Magic TX Garage door repair (or the umbrella "GDS Corp? which is on the
masthead of the estimate form. This company is falsely claiming to be BBB accredited and it
is NOT and for good reason.
 
I called "Magic TX Garage Door" for an estimate to
repair a 2-car garage door. I spoke to ?Ben? and was told "Leo" was
coming but he had to reschedule for the following day; between 8-9am. At
9am  ?Will? called to say he would arrive
in 45 mins. 
 When he arrived he told me the entire spring mechanism on my
2-car garage (which was closed) had to be replaced and could either be replaced
by the original company Wayne Dalton or his company. His estimate was for
$600. He said his company had a 10-year warranty and when I asked for
details regarding the company he said it was under GDS Corp, who owns many
garage companies in the area by different names. I told him I would like to
research both his and the Wayne Dalton company and get back to him. 
 I opened my other one-car garage, which was working with the
remote and asked if that had the same mechanism and he said yes except that the
motor and the spring were one unit and that needed replacement as well and it
would be $400. I told him it was working ok and asked if this door had a manual
override in case of a power outage or emergency.  He got up on a ladder and disconnected the
cables and the door shut and told me the mechanism was broken. 
I asked if he would re-connect the cables so I could continue
to use it as I had before he arrived and he said he could not because it was
locked. I asked what he meant by that and he said the spring is broken and the
door cannot be opened. I asked if he would just reconnect the cables so that I
could use the door the way I was previously using it and he said the cables
could not be reconnected and became argumentive and angry that I would
insinuate that he broke the door. I told him I did not accuse him of breaking
the door; I was just asking him to connect it back the way it was before he
disconnected them. He was angry and agitated while I was calm and just asking
for clarification. He told me to call Wayne Dalton and stormed out of the
garage, walked through my house and slammed my front door!  I thought he
might have been going back to get the estimate he originally gave me but realized
he didn't even leave any paperwork and he got into his truck so fast and drove away!
I called the dispatcher of the company whom I originally made
the appointment with ?Ben? and asked if I could speak with a supervisor and he
became immediately defensive and asked what the problem was. I asked if he was
the owner of the company or I would like to speak with someone and he too
became agitated and argumentative. When I asked if his company was owned by GDS
Corp he did not answer and said he would have someone call me back. I told him
"Will" was unprofessional. He said Will said all that happened was
that I did not want to purchase the replacement spring. I told him that is not
what happened. I may have considered replacing the spring but when the
situation happened with the second door I was appalled that one of his
employees could be so unprofessional. He was defensive and said he would have
someone call me back. I asked him who would be calling me back and Ben hung up
on me.
 
When I called back I was automatically redirected to a
different number with a recording that the mailbox is full.  I called several other ?Magic Garage Door
Repair? phone numbers throughout Texas and even other states and was redirected
to the same number with the ?mailbox full? recording. I called from a different
phone and got through and when I spoke to Ben I reminded him of the situation
and that he was going to have someone call me back and that he hung up on me,
and he yelled, ?and I?m hanging up again!? and hung up on me. I immediately
redialed his number and was redirected to the phone number with the mailbox
full recording. 
 In addition, all of the websites claim Magic Garage Door
Repair is BBB accredited. If you look up this company on the Better Business
Bureau it clearly states that it is NOT accredited.  
 Do not deal with Magic Garage Door Repair!
